The country has one more reason to take its National Arts Month celebration up a notch through the coming international trade fair for consumer goods which will be happening from February 3 to 7 in Frankfurt, Germany. Known as Ambiente, an artisanal assortment from our very own is set to take centre stage in the Philippine Pavilion of the exhibit.

Out of the 30 participating brands and manufacturers, 10 companies from Tarlac will proudly represent and add to the expansion of Filipino creators in the home, fashion, and lifestyle space on a global aspect. Found in the pavilion are crafts curated by Tony Gonzales, a renowned creative consultant for both local and international trade shows.
Due to its agricultural landscape, Tarlac is recognised as an emerging hub for artisanal products which are often made from wood, stone, clay, and rattan perfectly made with precise craftmanship on top of its intricate details. But it gets better than that, the participating brands have notable approaches to sustainability. Take, for example—Pumice, Oricon Corporation, Pascasio Potery, and Unlimited Ventures which sustainably source the raw materials that they use in creating home products.

This company is also included in the Ethical Style by Ambiente: a programme that allows exhibitors who offer ecologically produced and socially responsible products to carry a corresponding label on their stands at the trade show for easy recognition of buyers and visitors.
"There were trials in applying for the distinction. It's an inspiration to create a new product from the items that are readily available. We just need to be creative, innovative, and inspired," cites Louriza Reyes, the founder of Louriza Furniture Center.

Tarlac Governor Susan Yap, who advocates for creating businesses and entrepreneurs, fully supports the enterprises that are set to carry the country's culture, art flair, and sustainability drive to a global scale with the words, "The 10 entrepreneurs are mentored through the different projects of the city; focusing on designs that are palatable to the international market."

The Philippine participation is spearheaded by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) which is attached under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). "In 2020, we joined CITEM and we had a booth of our own in Ambiente. We did not only mentor the exhibitors through design but also through the business side of it—from logistics, the financial aspects, and bookkeeping. We've worked with CITEM and DTI in mentoring the new and young entrepreneurs," Yap adds.
