Ping Chayapa Chutrakul, a new generation female executive in the luxury industry, founder of Directions Group (Thailand) and one of Tatler Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow 2025, with an aspiration of helping to drive Thailand towards becoming a Luxury Hub of Southeast Asia
A beautiful and active young woman, a representative of the new generation of women who are knowledgeable about technology, business, and creativity. Although she grew up and was involved in the retail and luxury industry since childhood, Ping was interested in studying Mass Media and Communication before earning a Master's degree in Applied Analytics from Columbia University, one of the Ivy League universities in the heart of New York City, with a dream of working as a data scientist.
But timing and opportunity led her to a diverse range of work experiences, from 2x4 Studios in New York and McCann Worldgroup, where she was responsible for global brands, before leaving to help Siam Piwat Group with its digital strategy, marketing and business development, as well as helping to bring ICONSIAM, a then-new project, to the world.
Ping is also the co-founder of The Pink Lab, a consulting firm specializing in branding, marketing, and technology for business development, and a co-founder of the luxury lifestyle community JAI by ONESIAM.

Luxury industry experts
Despite her diverse roles and interests, one thing the Siam Piwat heiress has prioritized and devoted her heart and soul to since the beginning is the Directions Group (Thailand) project, a luxury agency specializing in luxury brands, where she sits at the helm as Executive Director.
“At that time, we saw the continued growth of the luxury brand market, so we wanted to leverage our experience and insights in Thailand to a global level. We therefore formed a joint venture with Singapore, where we led the creation of Directions Group (Thailand).”
Ping explained that Directions Group (Thailand) offers three services: PR and communications for luxury brands, event management and experience design, and CRM (customer relationship management) consulting, offering advice on how to build strong relationships between brands and their customers.

Lessons from global brands
Her experience working with global brands during her time at the agency and the opportunity to interact with people from various leading communities have given her a clear understanding of the big picture of the luxury world.
"Ping believes attention to detail is crucial for luxury. Attention to small details can make a difference in delivering a great experience, whether in communication, event creation, or even customer service. This leads to the second key: high-quality products that embody the brand's heritage and desire to deliver. Finally, carefully curated creativity ensures that unique, groundbreaking, and market-breaking offerings are presented."
Beyond offering the best to customers, to become a leading luxury brand, it is crucial to elevate quality and service to world-class standards.
"We don't just work or develop our people to meet Thailand's needs. We also need to align our work methods with world-class professionalism and meet global standards. Working with luxury brands has taught me a great lesson: when it comes to managing their brands in Thailand, they have high expectations, and we must deliver the best possible results."
Meet your needs with “data”
A female executive of Directions Group (Thailand) revealed that one of the challenges in successfully communicating a global brand is to understand the characteristics and needs of the market as much as possible.
“Thailand is truly a market with a rich palette of flavours. Clients are sophisticated, sophisticated and have a deep understanding of luxury, and have diverse needs that other countries don't. So, how do we make our global practice meet local demand? The key is finding key insights from clients,” Ping proudly says, a strength for someone with a background in data.
“We believe that data is a revolutionary identity, not just for luxury brands, but for all industries. We may have various types of data, including quantitative data such as sales, engagement data such as likes and comments on social media, and qualitative data derived from customer feedback, which is crucial for decision-making and brand strategy.”

Elevate Thailand to the luxury hub of ASEAN
Although the competitive landscape in the luxury world is changing rapidly, she sees opportunities and Thailand's readiness to go even further.
“Every industry change, whether up or down, is an opportunity. On days when the market isn't doing well, it's an opportunity to explore new businesses and ways of doing business. Today, for example, the world seems to be in flux, but Thailand still has demand for various products, such as watches and jewelry, which presents opportunities for us to expand.”
Most importantly, she believes Thailand has the potential to become the luxury hub of Southeast Asia, and there are three key elements that will help us get there.
“First, Thailand has a strong infrastructure. Second, we have a strong celebrity and KOL roster, perhaps the strongest in the region. Therefore, we don't need to look for other influencers to stimulate our local market. As a person in this industry, we have collaborated with many famous artists, and it's clear that brands are increasingly interested in working with Thai artists and thought leaders in other segments in Thailand.”
The final and most remarkable aspect of Thailand is its cultural heritage, including its diverse and beautiful handicrafts.
"We have a rich heritage, both in terms of craftsmanship and creativity, which will play a significant role in the future of the luxury industry. As Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow, we want to encourage more creativity in Thai society. I believe that the creativity of the new generation will lead to many exciting things, and this will truly propel the Thai economy and culture towards becoming a regional luxury hub."
