Perhaps one of the most well-known bagel spots in the Klang Valley, Grumpy Bagels blossomed onto the local dining scene this year with fresh bakes and brunch plates that bring bagels to the forefront. Walk up to the café’s pastry case and find baskets filled with an assortment of bagels, from classic everything bagels to matcha red bean mochi creations.

Pair your bake of choice with cream cheeses flavoured with coffee, berry crumble, garlic, and more. If you’re in search of a more substantial meal, opt for a bagel sandwich filled with streaky beef bacon, hash browns, eggs, and melted cheese or order a take on eggs Benedict that sees toasted bagels supplant English muffins

Stepping into Estelle feels nothing short of welcoming, given that you’ll be greeted with exposed brick walls, warm lighting, and a myriad of bagels. Baked daily and consistently crisp on the outside but tender on the inside, its menu takes shape with maple pecan cream cheese, garlic spring onion cream cheese, and Earl grey milk jam cream cheese meant to top its bagels.

Bagel sandwiches are also on offer, seeing bacon onion jam fill toasted rolls, kaya and custard cream sweeten bakes, and cheesesteak turn bagels into a substantial meal.

In an unassuming shop lot in USJ, tucked below a paint supply store, is YODmilk Shop—Subang Jaya’s newest bagel joint. The spot has garnered acclaim on social media and among dedicated café hoppers for its affordable offerings and an impressive array of breakfast staples.

Find plain and cranberry-dotted bagels alongside both sweet and savoury fillings, from dark chocolate chip and almond honey cream cheese to egg mayo and spring onion cream cheese.

It wouldn’t be a bagel list without a mention of Park’s Bagels. Arguably the first to usher in the local bagel craze we’re all witnessing firsthand is Park’s Bagels, known for its impressive selection of bagel flavours and cream cheese combinations. Bagels here do not skimp on cream cheese, served with a layer as thick as the bakes themselves.

Find multiple flavours of cream cheese to slather bagels with, whether you’re leaning towards a sweet maple walnut infusion, savoury basil tomato blend, or a spicy Buldak spread. Its bagel selection is just as impressive, with cranberry, jalapeño, garlic, and poppyseed on its lineup—just to name a few.

Toasted to order and served in a minimalist Taman Megah café, the dining experience at Bagelhaus emulates those of New York bakeries. Perfect for quick lunches on the go or a satisfying midday snack, its menu houses bagels accented with cranberry cinnamon, golden garlic, and sea salt chocolate.

Pair these flavours with earl grey milk, basil pesto, sun-dried tomato, or fresh chive cream cheese spreads. The café recommends filling its chocolate bagel with a smear of honey yuzu and coconut cream cheese.

Come for the coffee but stay for the bagels. While not entirely dedicated to bagels, Take Five Coffee Brewers in Shah Alam is home to an assortment of bagels that any bread fiend is bound to love. Alongside a range of espresso-based brews is an impressive bagel menu encompassing toasted bagels coated in cream cheese and sandwiches filled with smoked salmon.

The rise of bagels in the city, of course, had to join heads with another recent bread fad—sourdough. While traditionally leavened with conventional yeast, Beng Beng Sourdough’s bagels rise naturally and give each roll a crisp crust and pillow interiors.

Order its bagels online or stop by its café for homemade dill and caper cream cheese spread on bagels, sweet bagels topped with peanut butter and jam or strawberry preserves, and bagel sandwiches filled with salmon lox.

Bagelicious by Nai will have all your bagel needs sorted with its homemade bakes and sandwiches. Supplying cafés and restaurants around the city with its bagels, you’ll be able to try them from the source in Seri Kembangan and top garlic granule bagels with caper cream cheese, everything bagels with jalapeño cream cheese, or flavour a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese.

Its sandwiches aren’t to be missed either, seeing marinated chicken thigh and mint fill bagels, eggs, and beef bacon turn bakes into breakfast sandwiches, and brined salmon and cream cheese give diners a traditional option. If you’re looking to take bagels home to keep your pantry stocked, you’ll find this spot at Cyberjaya Farmers Market on Saturdays.

Nestled on the ground floor of a residential and commercial block is White Land, a café known for its brews and bakes. Despite being the perfect spot to find a quick midday caffeine fix, its food menu is not to be missed.

You’ll find a variety of sourdough sandwiches including sourdough bagel stacks served three ways—with butter spread, topped with homemade pesto and cheese, or filled with pancetta and egg

Specialty drinks may be this spot’s strong point but its bagels prove just as good. Chocolate enthusiasts are bound to be impressed with beverages that shine the spotlight on Malaysian single-origin chocolate and chocolate-infused bagels.

Alongside sweet treats, find spring onion cheese bagels, matcha bagels, and poppyseed bagels that you can pair with dark chocolate cream cheese, black sesame and peanut butter spread, or truffle kombu butter.
