The Tourism Promotions Board treats us to discover their dossier of all that is to do, visit and enjoy in the Philippines, conveniently packaged and curated for the modern traveller

Fresh off the launch of our new biannual title, Tatler Travel, it felt fitting that Tatler Philippines’ first event of 2024 echoed the wanderlust theme while tying it back to home.

In partnership with the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the marketing arm of the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT), we gathered our globetrotting friends within Shangri-La The Fort, Manila’s Samba, to celebrate an essential companion from here on out: the newly enhanced Travel Philippines app. Guests arrived in their vibrantly Filipino attire with stories and commendations to share, eager to witness and experience how the mobile app can guide their next adventures across the country.

After a warm welcome from our lovely host, Issa Litton, we couldn’t miss hearing a few words from the TPB chief operating officer herself. Marga Nograles remarked, “The Travel Philippines app is a labour of love by the DOT, the TPB and every single regional director in all our 17 regions of the Philippines, each one of them raring to share with all of you unique and authentic experiences in our destinations.”

Beaming with pride and appreciation, she added, “Thank you for reminding us that we are all ambassadors of our country. Each and every one of you here has some special story to share. So today, always and every day, let us continue to share those stories as we travel the world and the Philippines—let us share what is most special about this beautiful home of ours.”

Invigorated, everyone spent the rest of the night reconnecting with each other and exploring the new app themselves. Some even shared their features on it, like the “What’s Near You” button that allows you to discover nearby attractions, dining spots, events and more within a 15km radius. As scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and free-flowing tipples circled the room, so did travel anecdotes and recommendations, indeed.

The evening wrapped with all our guests ready for their future journeys, armed with their latest travel must-have from the TPB.
