Each week at Tatler Asia’s The Suite Spot, we showcase the world’s most over-the-top and extravagant hotel suites. This week, we look at Coccina’s Apartment at Aman Venice, a stunning abode which combines three suites in one

Coccina’s Apartment at Aman Venice, Italy

Suite Size: 3,122 square feet. Taking over the fourth floor of the luxury palazzo, Coccina’s Apartment is accessed by a private elevator.

Suite Specs: Last year, Aman Venice outdid itself when it combined three of its most extravagant suites—the Papadopoli Stanza Grande Canal, the Palazzo Stanza Canal Grande and the Palazzo Chamber Affresco—to create Coccina’s Apartment. The former Chapel Lounge was also incorporated into the apartment, serving as an elegant private living room complete with a fireplace.

The spacious suite features three free-standing bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms with deep soaking tubs, king-size beds and views over the Grand Canal and Aman Venice’s private gardens—a rarity and a luxury in the floating Italian city.

Suite Design: The timeless design of Coccina’s Apartment includes lovingly restored works by some of Italy’s greatest artists, including frescoes by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. These authentic, historical elements are tastefully met with modern touches found throughout the hotel’s design, which was envisioned and executed by Jean-Michel Gathy.

Gathy, a long-time Aman collaborator, is the man behind several Aman properties’ designs including Aman Summer Palace in Beijing, Amanyara Turks and Caicos and the soon-to-open Aman New York

In Coccina’s Apartment at Aman Venice, contemporary furnishings complement authentic silk wall coverings, cascading chandeliers, wood paneling and chinoiserie. High frescoed ceilings and tall, stately windows flood the room with Italian sunshine, welcoming in views of the Grand Canal and the beautiful, historic buildings that line its shores.

About the hotel: The Coccina family, a family of affluent traders and seafarers who moved to Venice from Bergamo in the mid-16th century, built the Palazzo in 1550, which was designed by architect Giangiacomo Dei Grigi—a follower of renowned Venetian sculptor and architect, Jacopo Sansovino.  Centuries later, in 2013, the grand Baroque building became Aman Venice.

The waterfront property is a favourite amongst celebrities and the world’s elite. George Clooney and wife Amal even had their wedding at Aman Venice, with a star-studded guest list that included Bill Murray, Anna Wintour and Matt Damon.
