This year, we brought the Tatler Best Asia Pacific celebrations to Shanghai for the first time, and the grandeur of the awards was matched by a spectacular setting: Yan Garden, Shanghai. A Traditional Chinese Culture Reserve, it offers an immersive journey into the art of gracious Chinese living and the beauty of the classical garden. There were audible gasps from guests as they approached the cocktail reception in Jin Xiu Hall and on Jin Xiu Terrace - remarkable spaces designed in the classical tradition of Beijing-style architecture. From there, guests moved into the magnificent Jin Xiu Grand Ballroom, dressed in rich hues of red, green and gold, for the main event. With Yan Garden, Shanghai set to open officially next year, our guests enjoyed a world-exclusive preview of what promises to become one of the city’s most admired landmarks. The night drew to a reluctant close with an afterparty in one of the garden’s heritage-inspired courtyard restaurants, with cocktails and canapés under the stars.
