Party bus? Please, that’s so 2005. Allow us to introduce you to the party plane

The travel industry has been nothing short of creative in finding ways to cope with two long years of Covid-related travel restrictions. from flights to nowhere to bringing first class dining experiences to the comfort of our homes and now... party planes.

German airline Lufthansa has unveiled its £325,000,000 party plane, which they have named Explorer. Designed and modelled to function like “a superyacht in the sky”, Explorer is a passenger aircraft refurbished to include a discotheque, bar, dining area, glass floor and a balcony (which can only be extended when the plane is grounded, of course).

“Unlike a yacht, however, our Explorer aircraft allows passengers to travel to the other side of the globe within hours and set up their own individual base camp for further activities,” says Wieland Timm, head of sales VIP & Special Mission Aircraft Services at Lufthansa Technik, the German design studio behind the project. “This opens up completely new possibilities for explorers.”

The central lounge area has a spiffy projection system built into the walls and ceilings to display virtual day and night skies, underwater scenery, or whatever you like, really. The luxury jet also features bedrooms and guest rooms that provide passengers with “all comforts and amenities that they can expect from a five-star hotel on the ground”, according to Timm.

The original party plane design is one that can carry up to 12 VIP passengers, but the Lufthansa Technik studio says it can reconfigure the design to accommodate up to 47 people.

How’s that for partying in mile-high style?
