Though the holidays have passed, Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer members reflect on family, travel and the personal comforts that make every journey feel like home
As Christmas fades into a comforting memory, thoughts of home and family linger, wherever and whomever they may be. It was—and still is—a time of connection, especially those that persist across vast distances. It can be a child eagerly waiting for a parent working overseas to emerge through the gates, or a group of friends reuniting as though nothing had changed. Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) KrisFlyer members reminisced on what made this season special as they returned to the arms of loved ones across the globe.
Janel and John Torres celebrated their 13th anniversary while on a long-haul flight from Los Angeles to Narita. Though thousands of miles away from home, their shared company made every moment no less special. The journey itself was just as meaningful, from the comfort they felt with each other to the quiet moments 30,000 feet in the sky. They looked fondly on those hours spent together, and they look forward to embarking on another trip and making new memories—only this time, with their daughter in tow.

In her youth and with a vivid imagination, Diana Go and her cousin would play with a telephone, pretending they could reach anyone in the world. Decades later, as her cousin settled into her home in Melbourne, Go turned those playful instances into reality. On her first SIA trip, she flew to the land down under to visit her cousin, reuniting once more. History had a strange way of repeating itself, as Go would now observe her own children and nephews playing with telephones as she once had. Even upon returning home, she would carry on those traditions, scenes passed down from generation to generation.

Meanwhile, David Ang travelled for passion. He and his family flew to Singapore to catch the premiere of Wicked: For Good. They got to catch themselves up to speed and watched the first adaptation while in the air—just so the scenes remained fresh in their minds. As they stood on the yellow carpet, watching the stars arrive one by one, Ang fully revelled in the shared love of film (and a bit of theatre!) with his family.

The holidays have always been a brief, fleeting comfort before children return to school and adults must once more carry out their responsibilities. Time is a valuable thing, and when it is spent with the right people, it doesn’t matter where you are in the world. As frequent flyer Sofia Manzano, who shared her story as part of the campaign succinctly puts it, “travelling with Singapore Airlines always felt like coming home—there’s a warmth and ease that makes the farthest destinations feel familiar.”
