Raja Jesrina Arshad, Jasmine Suraya, and Whulandary Herman get a first look at Volvo's first and only fully-electric SUV
On December 14, 2022, Volvo Car Malaysia embarked on the next stop of its sustainability journey by launching its first electric-only SUV, the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric. This locally assembled electric car solidifies the Swedish carmaker's position in the growing market for e-luxury vehicles.
A grand gala was held at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur to mark the occasion. Among its esteemed guests were Tatler friends Raja Jesrina Arshad, Jasmine Suraya, and Whulandary Herman. They were given a warm welcome by Volvo Car Malaysia managing director, Charles Frump, who gave them a tour of the special exhibition erected at the entrance of the ballroom. The exhibition showcased limited-edition 'luxtainable' weekend bags created in collaboration with fashion designer Phillip Lim as well as an informative display recounting Volvo's rich history in the global automotive industry and its longstanding dedication to reducing carbon emissions.

The evening began with the highly-anticipated reveal of the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric, followed by an impassioned speech by Frump on Volvo Car Malaysia's vision for an all-electric future, starting with this car that combines innovative design, advanced technology and sustainability for a seamless, stylish driving experience.

Guests were then invited to discover the vehicle themselves. Tatler friends were enamoured by the SUV's sporty silhouette. Our October 2022 cover star Raja Jesrina Arshad shares: "I love the sleek, spacious interior of the car; it would be so comfortable for the daily commute, as well as any long-distance trips."
They were also impressed with the car's intelligent safety features, such as the blind spot information system (BLIS) with steer assist and detection technology to prevent collisions with pedestrians, cyclists, and other city hazards.
The three women were excited to witness the global shift to cleaner energy and Volvo Car Malaysia's commitment and contribution to reducing carbon emissions and building a more sustainable world for the current and future generations.
