The art of arrival: A fusion of automotive excellence and culinary mastery with Range Rover

As we settled into the plush interiors of the cabin, we were immediately immersed in a space that felt both intimate and elevated. Inside the Range Rover Sport, its meticulous craftsmanship was evident. Every detail—from the supple texture of Windsor leather and the gentle glow of ambient lighting–spoke of quiet luxury and set the perfect prelude to the evening ahead. There, amidst the Range Rover Sport’s cocoon of calm, the SUV’s wellness-focused design, such as the cabin air purification and seats engineered for comfort, reminded us to sit back, relax, and revel in the whisper-quiet atmosphere.

The Range Rover Sport glided with remarkable composure and confidence through the rush hour on Singapore’s busy streets. As we quietly chatted away with each other, the cabin’s near-silent acoustics allowed for uninterrupted conversation. The advanced suspension also seamlessly absorbed every bump and jolt on the road, while the Adaptive Cruise Control and intelligent driver-assist features ensured a steady, smooth journey. The siding panoramic sunroof was another welcomed touch, casting soft natural light across the cabin and offering us glimpses of the overcast sky above.

All this combined to create a comfortable 20-minute journey, and by the time the Range Rover Sport pulled up to the Raffles Hotel Arcade, we arrived refreshed and ready for the evening ahead.

Stepping out of the Range Rover, we made our way to the third floor of Raffles Hotel Arcade to yì by Jereme Leung. There, we were immediately greeted by the stunning Pale Garden installation–a cascade of 1,000 hand-strung floral strands. With its earthy stone textures, warm timber accents, and cloud-inspired ceiling, the restaurant’s ethereal interior was tranquil, inviting, and vibrant all at once–hinting at what was to come.

The night of exceptional flavours began with a cup of chrysanthemum tea before we were introduced to the Tatler x Range Rover Sport set menu: a five-course culinary journey curated by veteran chef Jereme Leung. The starters arrived as a trio of artistry and contrast: crisp pork belly paired with tangy house-made pickles and a touch of yellow mustard; delicate Australian scallops perched atop cordyceps flower and spinach rolls; and a vibrant beetroot and tribute vegetable salad, punctuated with vinegar caviar and a scattering of mixed nuts for texture and depth. Every mouthful was a masterful medley of tradition and innovation, echoing chef Leung’s signature approach to reimagining Chinese classics with global flair.

We were particularly delighted by the soup course: a savoury and aromatic double-boiled chicken broth, brimming with fish maw, bamboo fungus and matsutake mushroom, all served within a young coconut.

For the main course, we were served crispy prawns drizzled in a bright passion fruit dressing, followed by a Jiangnan-style beef stew, its slow-cooked richness layered with the warming spice of Penang nutmeg. Chef Leung’s Yangzhou fried rice—tossed with slivers of pork and wisps of egg—served as the perfect companion, comforting yet familiar.

Dessert arrived as a playful duet: a slice of gula melaka honeycomb cake paired with a beautifully-presented peach gum and lemongrass jelly. The refreshing, palate-cleansing finale brought the evening to a satisfying close.

Every course was a testament to balance and precision, reinforcing chef Leung’s philosophy of honoring traditional Chinese gastronomy with refined simplicity.

All too soon, it was time to leave the tranquil embrace of yì. Stepping back into the waiting Range Rover Sport, we let the gentle purr of the engine and the soft glow of the ambient lighting cocoon us once more. As the city lights faded into the distance, the Range Rover Sport continued to impress us with its poised performance and unwavering comfort—turning even the journey home into a moment of quiet indulgence.

For us, this evening only reaffirmed what we know to be true: that true luxury lies not just in the destination, but in the journey itself—and Range Rover is where thoughtful design, seamless engineering, and sensory pleasure come together in perfect harmony.
