Oppo has announced the launch of its latest Reno12 series in Malaysia. The latest smartphones from the smartphone maker will feature advanced generative AI capabilities, a sleek fluid design, and high energy efficiency.

Both devices feature 6.7-inch AMOLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate, providing users with a vibrant visual experience. The Reno12 Pro is equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the latest iteration of Corning's protective glass technology designed for mobile devices, while the standard Reno12 utilises Gorilla Glass 7i for protection.

The Reno12 series joins a growing list of smartphones in 2024 that are deemed to offer AI features, reflecting an increasing trend towards AI-powered devices. Here are five things to know about the new Reno 12 series.

The new Reno models retain a familiar design while incorporating significant enhancements. Oppo says the new models have a high-strength alloy framework that provides improved protection against drops and water. The Reno12 Pro features a silver finish and a textured finish that give it a 3D-like appearance.

The new Reno12 series uses OLED technology for its displays. The difference between the two is the Reno12 has a 6.2-inch screen, while the Reno12 Pro features a 6.7-inch display. Both offer a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and immersive graphics. The displays include blue light eye protection and another feature that enables the display to detect button presses even with wet hands accurately.

Oppo has equipped the Reno12 series with improved hardware for mobile photography. This includes a new Sony sensor that is said to provide better autofocus as well as optical image stabilisation for smoother shake-free images and video.

Both models of the Oppo Reno12 series are versatile, offering a portrait mode with up to two times zoom. They also boast a 50-Megapixel (MP) telephoto Camera and a 50-MP selfie camera that can retouch photos using AI. Plus, both phones support 4K video recording on both rear and front cameras.

Oppo has bundled several features that use AI including an eraser tool that enables users to remove unwanted objects from photos. Even if you don't land the perfect group shot, Oppo has included an AI feature that ensures every subject looks their best and has their eyes opened in the picture.

There is also a new generative AI feature that allows users to create digital avatars or artistic portraits from a photo. In addition, Oppo offers an AI summary feature that builds text summaries from voice recordings and generates notes to ensure you don't miss any important points.
