Step inside the GWM WEY G9 with Penang-based furniture designers from by Hogen, where human-centric philosophy, tactile comfort, and effortless adaptability converge to redefine mobile luxury
For furniture designers Neoh Kim Hin and Goh Boon Sin of by Hogen, every creative endeavour begins with a single, essential question: how will people actually live with what is being created?
Inside their studio, amidst the crisp snap of tape measures, raw timber samples, and detailed blueprints, the pair works according to a shared belief that true beauty must never compromise daily functionality.
For them, everyday luxury is achieved only when a piece looks right, feels right, and fits seamlessly into the flow of human interaction. This exact philosophy draws them to the GWM WEY G9, where they encounter an automotive design that mirrors their own approach of building spaces around people rather than forcing people to adapt to spaces.

Stepping out of the studio and into the sunlit grounds of Noordin Mews, Neoh and Goh explore a vehicle designed as a living sanctuary. The duo immediately recognises details that reflect their own craftsmanship. The Zero Gravity captain’s seats offer tailored ergonomic support, reclining gracefully to cradle the body while integrated massage functions ease the day’s stress at the press of an armrest button.
The cabin shifts effortlessly between a mobile studio and a place to unwind, allowing them to pull down fold-out tray tables for working on laptops or simply lean back under the streaming light of the panoramic sunroof. Every detail in the cabin is considered around the natural movements of its passengers, delivering equal comfort across generations.

True design mastery also requires practical freedom, a principle demonstrated as Neoh and Goh transition from creative planning to real-world execution. Utilising the vehicle’s flexible rail system, the seating slides forward smoothly to unlock an impressive 1,725 litres of cargo capacity.
The expansive boot space handles high-volume utility with ease, allowing the designers to load flat-pack furniture boxes and transport their own signature creations wherever they want. The vehicle proves that generous spatial capacity can exist in complete harmony with refined elegance.

As the GWM WEY G9 glides past historic façades, Neoh and Goh reflect on the natural synergy between their interior craft and modern automotive engineering. When form, function, and comfort are thoughtfully balanced, design ceases to be merely decorative and instead actively elevates everyday life.
Through its adaptive interior, tactile materials, and human-centric architecture, the GWM WEY G9 proves that thoughtful design is truly first class in every form.
