Here’s what you missed: Before the doors officially close at Sevva in April this year, Bonnae Gokson, the restaurant’s founder, threw one final bash to commemorate 16 years of glamour atop the Landmark Prince’s Building. Every touch and detail of the evening, from the meticulously curated songs list (including a fabulous rendition of Believe by Cher) to the captivating entertainment (think baton twirlers, drum players, dancers and other international acts), the evening was a pure celebration of love.
Tatler VIPs including Alan Chan, Donnie Yen, Goodwin Gaw, Yvette Ho and Miss Universe Japan 2023, Rio Miyazaki, made appearances and reminisced on nearly two decades of fun at Sevva.
“Throughout the 16 years of Sevva’s existence, we have encountered numerous challenges and moments of joy,” said Gokson, in a Barbie pink ensemble, to a crowd of nearly 600 guests. “I would like to extend my gratitude to all our customers, loyal staff, and friends who have believed in me and supported us, enabling Sevva to become a landmark social and entertainment destination in Hong Kong. While bidding farewell is bittersweet, we take pride in reflecting on past accomplishments and remaining open to new creative directions. Sevva will forever reside in our memories. Thank you once again for your unwavering support and love,” she said.
Allan Zeman, the founder of the Lan Kwai Fong group, also took to the stage singing Gokson’s praises: “Bonnae had the foresight to gather talents and make one of the most beautiful restaurants in the world—not just Hong Kong. Whatever else [the landlord] will put in here, I hope it does well, but I don’t think it’ll ever do as well as the last 16 years of Sevva,” he said to thunderous applause.
Since its inception in 2008, SEVVA has continuously redefined the art of entertainment in Hong Kong and has played host to a global roster of royalty, celebrities, jet-setters, and luminaries from the realms of fashion, music, and film. It will be missed.
