Join in on the festivities as these vibrant annual Ramadan bazaars have made a comeback

This year, Ramadan begins on March 12 and on top of being a period of worship and piety, this holy month for Muslims also sees the return of lifestyle bazaars around the island. Signalling the start of the fasting month, these annual bazaars are lined with tantalising street food and various retail stalls.

On top of the most popular bazaars—Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar and Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar—there are also plenty of smaller Ramadan markets to check out around the island. So, join in on the festivities this year and check out some exciting bazaars happening during this month.

1. Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar

When: Now until April 10

One of the biggest bazaars in Singapore, the Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar takes place between Sims Avenue and Changi Road. Themed Semangat Raya, this year’s bazaar will see over 500 retail and food booths—think trendy bites, traditional garb and more. Explore the bazaar and find exciting activities too, including easy-to-win carnival games.

2. Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar

When: Now until April 5

Themed Gemilang Kampong Gelam, this annual bazaar has returned for its fourth run. Explore the bazaar and find over 100 food stalls and retail booths that spread across Kandahar Street, Muscat Street and Baghdad Street. Dig into prata waffles, tahu begadil and satay roaming its retail booths. On top of these vendors, look forward to live cooking shows and performances by local acts such as Taufik Batisah.

3. Ecoharmony Fest

When: Now until April 9

Spanning over six weeks, this sustainable Ramadan bazaar will be powered by solar panels and also tap solar energy for parts of its operations. Recycling bins are also available throughout the area for visitors to dispose of recyclable items. On top of a diverse array of halal food options, you’ll also find retail booths selling clothing, home decor and more. Special dining areas will also be available for Muslims to break their fast. Movie screenings and live performances will also be available.

4. Bazar Raya Utara

When: Now until April 4

This annual event has returned to the north bigger than ever. This year’s edition is held in two locations, next to Sembawang MRT station and Admiralty MRT station. An exciting lineup of events await, ranging from live performances to community activities. When you feel peckish, explore the the bazaar and find tantalising food stalls serving up Korean waffles, fried chicken and more.

5. Me-You Market x Laloolalang

When: March 16 and 17

This year, Me-You Market and Laloolalang are coming together to celebrate this festive period. Titled Rumah Kita, this edition combines a nostalgic ambiance with modern elements. Expect a curated selection of over 40 popular local and regional brands offering traditional and contemporary food, fashion wear, furniture and more. Some brands to look forward to include Kayu, Limited Studio and Melrose Label, among others.
