After years of anticipation, Disney+ has been officially launched in Hong Kong today (November 16). Here, we break down everything you need to know about the streaming service—including the price, shows, and special features

The day that many local Disney, Marvel and Star Wars fans have been waiting for has arrived—Disney+, the popular streaming service by The Walt Disney Company, has officially launched in Hong Kong today (November 16). Disney+ is now available in South Korea and Taiwan as well.

Subscribers of the streaming service will enjoy access to a vast selection of shows and movies from Disney’s most iconic brands, including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star, anytime and anywhere. Boasting a library of over 1,200 films and 16,000 episodes of content, the online and app-based programme also features exclusive pieces of content, such as Marvel Studio's WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier; Star Wars series The Mandalorian; Disney and Pixar’s Luca; National Geographic’s Secrets of the Whales, as well as Hamilton, and many more. In short, no matter what your content of choice is, there‘s something for everyone on Disney+.

In Hong Kong, Disney+ costs HK$73 a month, or HK$738 a year. The streaming service comes with great device compatibility, where subscribers can enjoy the content on a wide range of devices, including smartphones and tablets (Andriod or iOS), gaming consoles (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S), as well as smart TVs and connected TV devices (Google TV and other Android TV OS, Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD, Chromecast, Hisense TVs with the latest firmware, LG TVs, Panasonic 4K TVs with My Home Screen OS, and Samsung Tizen models from 2016 on).

A variety of new features has also arrived with the launch, including Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos immersive audio formats, as well as 4K Ultra HD and HDR picture quality that guarantees an enjoyable streaming experience. Select Marvel titles will also be available in IMAX Enhanced.

Every Disney+ account allows simultaneous streaming on up to four different devices and can create seven user profiles per subscription. Parental controls are also offered in the form of Kids Profile for a child-friendly interface and age-appropriate content.
