Jin, the oldest member of the K-pop boy band BTS, began his mandatory military service at the South Korean boot camp this week. As fans miss him dearly, Tatler lists some unforgettable trivia about the star

Fans will have limited updates about BTS' oldest member Jin as the star begins his 18-month military service at a frontline South Korean boot camp. The country's compulsory military practice has been gaining attention in recent months since the announcement that all the members of the world-famous boy band are set to fulfil their military duties. 

The Conscription requires all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 28 to perform military services for the country. Typically, men assigned under the Army and Marine will have to perform their duties for 21 months; those who are assigned to the Navy will serve for 23 months, while those in the Air Force will serve for 24 months.

In the coming years, six other BTS members are to join the military which means that the group may likely have years-long hiatus.

Have you ever wondered how your favourite stars got the attention of recruitment teams? Jin's story was a bit unique. According to reports, the BTS member was chased after by a casting director who saw him getting off a bus. After some convincing, Jin agrees and dips his toes into the water. The rest, as they say, is history. 

 

2. Left Fans Crying After Coldplay Concert

Jin's memorable live performance with British rock band Coldplay at the Music of the Spheres World Tour in Argentina left fans teary-eyed. In the concert, the BTS member sang his first-ever solo "The Astronaut" and expressed his love for the ARMY.

3. He's a Theatre and Visual Arts Major

When fans say they need acting roles for Jin, it is because of the fact that the member is actually a film and visual arts major at the prestigious Konkuk University. For his graduate degree, Jin also studied film at the Hanyang Cyber University.
