Positive news arrives with an announcement from Madame Tussauds—Lea Salonga will be joining their prestigious collection this year

At long last, theatre icon Lea Salonga will finally get her own wax figure at Madame Tussauds wax museum in Singapore. It’s high time a woman of her level—a recipient of the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award and Tony Award, and a pride to her fellow Filipinos—received such recognition. “It’s an absolute honour and a privilege. It’s fantastic,” Salonga said.

Madame Tussauds announced the news on their Instagram account on June 6. “Shining, Shimmering, Splendid,” it started. “The legendary Lea Salonga will have her very own wax figure in #MadameTussuadsSG! Are you as excited as we are?”

Celebrities quickly shared their excitement. “Finally,” commented Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, while host and events extraordinaire Tim Yap expressed his amazement with a simple “Wow.”

In a featured interview with the post, she joyfully shared: “When my manager said this is happening, [that] Madame was interested in turning me into a wax figure, [I was] like ‘Oh my God’.” She joins Gray, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, and actress and host Anne Curtis Smith in the roster of Filipinos honoured with wax figures across museum branches.

Salonga’s wax figure is scheduled to be unveiled at Madame Tussauds Singapore in the third quarter of 2024, coinciding with the museum’s 10th-anniversary celebration.
