Amid luxury developments that increasingly look interchangeable from one city to another, chief executive officer Tiah Joo Kim shares how TA Global is pursuing a different ambition, creating places rooted in identity, connection and long-term relevance

From Kuala Lumpur to Sydney and Vancouver, glass-clad towers dominate city skylines with a familiar visual language that, while polished and contemporary, can often feel interchangeable and detached from the places they occupy.

For TA Global, however, every project should reflect the city around it, carrying both commercial purpose and cultural meaning across its residences, commercial spaces, and mixed-use destinations, alongside hospitality and lifestyle environments.

With a portfolio of more than 30 years spanning property development and management, as well as hospitality, the company’s developments across Malaysia and key international markets begin with a narrative rooted in the character of its surroundings, while giving the people who experience these places something meaningful to connect with and aspire towards.

Even within Malaysia, each property–as chief executive officer of TA Global Tiah Joo Kim puts it–“has to be of the place.”

The resort-inspired Amaya Residences in Damansara Avenue, for instance, is markedly different from CloutHaus Residences in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and the Avens Residences in Idaman Hills, Kluang.

Rather than applying a singular formula across its portfolio, TA Global approaches each development as a response to the aspirations of the community it serves.

Within Ativo Annexe at Damansara Avenue, the same thinking takes shape across different uses: Amaya Residences offers resort-inspired homes, forming the precinct’s residential expression, while The Arden, a Grade-A strata office development, introduces a contemporary workplace component. Together, they reflect the masterplan’s wider ambition to accommodate diverse urban lifestyles.

Meanwhile, CloutHaus appeals to urbanites who value proximity to the city’s social and cultural pulse; whereas Avens Residences accommodates multigenerational homeowners amidst a 95-acre, nature-inspired township away from the city.

“Whether it’s a private or public property, we’re always trying to build something that would truly represent the people, the culture and the location,” says Tiah. “While it’s going to be like a piece of art architecturally, whatever we create, we want to stand the test of time.”

In essence, TA Global seeks to create environments where people can live, work, and build memories.

The goal, then, is not merely to create desirable addresses, but recognisable lifestyle destinations; luxury developments are defined not only by their architecture, but by the communities, experiences and sense of belonging they cultivate.

This philosophy informs how TA Global conceives each project: from architectural expression and materiality to curated amenities and hospitality-inspired experiences designed to foster connection.

“For us, placemaking means creating environments that serve a larger purpose than the building itself,” Tiah elaborates.

Damansara Avenue, for instance, is an evolving mixed-use urban ecosystem where residential, workplaces, retail, lifestyle spaces, and major connectivity features, such as integrated transit links and master-planned walkability, are designed around a more connected way of living.

With an international footprint spanning destinations including Vancouver, Whistler, Singapore, Phuket, Bangkok, Kunshan and Sydney, Paradox brings TA Global’s hospitality experience into CloutHaus through a suite of serviced-residence privileges.

For residents, this translates into five-star hospitality-led services, from in-residence dining and entertainment to housekeeping, concierge attention, travel arrangements, and home and lifestyle management, including health and wellness support.

Beyond delivering comfort and convenience, hospitality becomes another storytelling tool, one that transforms a development from a collection of physical spaces into a place animated by memory and everyday life.

“What is going to make a memory point for a person is the connection [with the city],” he reveals. “When they learn something, or experience something new–something that is close to their heart, that’s what becomes more memorable.”

Ultimately, for Tiah, the true measure of a development lies in whether it continues to resonate with both residents and the wider city long after construction is complete.

Beyond shaping skylines or setting new benchmarks, the company’s ambition is to create places that remain rooted in their context, valued by their communities and embraced by the people who call them home decades on.

“If 30 to 40 years from now, people were to look at our projects and say they’re representative of the places and the community they are in, then I know I’ve done my job,” he muses.
