The singer and entrepreneur bought her latest luxury property at The Century condominium in Los Angeles

Rihanna is single-handedly doing it all this year—she’s had a musical comeback with her viral red-hot Super Bowl performance that has since garnered millions of views and continues to deliver as a budding entrepreneur with her cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty and her fashion line, Savage x Fenty. Behind the scenes, Rihanna is also a devoted mother who is soon to expect a second child.

While Rihanna has become the celebrity blueprint of making her dreams come true as a talented, self-made billionaire—her net worth is estimated to be around US$1.4 billion this year—the star has rented and owned close to a dozen investment luxury properties in Los Angeles, and her hometown, Barbados.

And now, she has just become the proud homeowner of a penthouse inside The Century, a 42-story condominium building in Los Angeles, a private residence in which she had previously owned a smaller unit since 2014. She bought her newest US$21 million top-floor unit from Afterpay co-founder Nick Molnar; it was also the former home of Friends actor Matthew Perry. It is also worth noting that this celebrity-loved property designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects has attracted a high-profile clientele including Paula Abdul and Denzel Washington. The building is fitted with amenities like four acres of lush private gardens, a 22.8 metre swimming pool, a screening room, a wine-storage facility, and private yoga and pilates studios.

On the 40th floor, Rihanna’s newest abode has been dubbed as a ‘Mansion in the Sky’ for its lofty 9,290 sq ft space and undeniably breathtaking city, ocean, and mountain views. Compared to her previous unit, she also stands to gain one more bedroom, three more bathrooms, and almost 6,000 additional sq ft in her elevated sanctuary.

Perfect for her growing family, the penthouse features numerous thoughtful design touches that were introduced when Perry bought the property in 2017. The Friends actor roped in architect Scott Joyce and interior designer LM Paganoe to give the space a new lease of life with significant upgrades. These impressive architectural details and interiors caught the eye of Molnar, who bought the property from Perry at US$23 million and listed the apartment in late 2022 for US$28 million; it is said that this is reportedly one of the most expensive transactions in Los Angeles property sales history.

The luxurious penthouse welcomes guests with its unique open-plan living with two cosy fireplaces. This area opens up to a chef’s kitchen that offers island seating and a dining table for unwinding or casual at-home meals.

The apartment also comes with a luxurious master suite with multiple living spaces that has stunning floor-to-wall windows and a minimalistic clean white architectural shell. There are also four bedrooms and eight bathrooms that can accommodate family and guests.

Aside from this, the home is also great for hosting, dining, and entertaining. Some key features of this penthouse include a game room, home theatre, and a separate glass-walled dining room. Homeowners and guests alike can also appreciate the four outdoor terraces unique to the property when they get their dose of fresh air and similarly boasts idyllic panoramas of the city.
