Linear Vista has designed a haven for luxurious modern family living in Kuala Lumpur
Nestled in the upscale neighbourhood of Hartamas Heights lies a contemporary home that artfully balances aesthetic design with practical functionality. This 6,000-square-foot residence, set on a generous 10,000-square-foot plot, is the result of a collaborative vision between the homeowners and Linear Vista, a multi-disciplinary design firm.
From the first impression, the interplay of industrial elements and warm neutrals immediately catches the eye. “We deliberately integrated raw industrial touches with clean, neutral finishes,” explains Sean Carpenter, managing director at Linear Vista. “Off-form concrete walls, vent block details, and exposed metal structures create a captivating contrast throughout the space.”

The heart of the home is a double-height living area, where a dramatic feature staircase with vertical timber slats creates a rhythmic, linear verticality.
“Our design intention was to create strong visual anchors within the heart of the space,” David Gituen Marcus, head of interior design at Linear Vista, notes. “The staircase introduces a sense of upward continuity, while the juxtaposition of marble against timber emphasises the elegance of the design.”

An open-plan layout flows seamlessly from the entrance through the living space, kitchen, and dining room. A softly patterned marble floor unifies these areas, creating a neutral canvas for accent pieces.
The dry kitchen, with its monolithic island and integrated timber dining ledge, stands out as both a functional and aesthetic triumph. “The interplay between Fusion Silk Marble and timber elements adds depth and warmth to the design,” Marcus observes.

Upstairs, four bedrooms offer private retreats, while the ground floor provides flexible spaces for guests, a children’s play area, and a study.
Large windows and careful orientation maximise natural light while minimising heat gain, underlining the project’s commitment to sustainability.

“We’re always striving to create designs that are more responsive to the environment,” Carpenter emphasises.
“From photovoltaic panels to inverter compressors and solar-powered water heaters, we’ve integrated numerous green initiatives to reduce the home’s environmental footprint.”

“The main space has layers of principles—physical layering, materials, light, texture, colour, and intimacy,” Carpenter reflects.
“How it intertwines with the more intimate areas of the house really works. We don’t believe homes must be built to the legal limits; bringing walls and glazing back to give breathing space improves the design overall.”
