The new limited edition Archibald armchair from Poltrona Frau and artist Felipe Pantone is every brave creative’s dream for one’s eclectic, modern space

To celebrate its 110 years of creative heritage and design, Italian furniture brand Poltrona Frau makes a splash in the art world by partnering with the disruptive Felipe Pantone, an Argentine-Spanish contemporary artist known for his characteristically bold, inventive, and hyper-modern style.

As they say, opposites do attract. Playing his own spin on one of the brand’s most iconic models, Pantone’s take on the once minimal Archibald armchair is a real design statement, uniquely refreshing and proudly displaying a vibrant pattern, strikingly unlike any other.

Combining Poltrona Frau’s time-honoured craftsmanship with Pantone’s forward-thinking vision and approach, the new Archibald Anniversary Limited Edition armchair is as every bit a revolutionary piece of furniture as it is an impeccable work of art.

A mesmerising spectacle of colour, even the base and metal legs sport a purple-blue iridescent shimmer when under the light as a result of its multicolour natural chrome finish. The expressive graphic pattern, reminiscent of a digitised heat map with its gradient of warm and cool swatches, is printed directly onto Poltrona Frau’s new chrome-free leather, a product of the brand’s ongoing sustainability efforts. Dubbed as their Impact Less® leather, this innovative material uses less and cleaner water while also minimising chemical waste in the production process.

Thus, the game-changing partnership between Poltrona Frau and Pantone not only marks the brand’s first international artistic collaboration; it also sets forth its recognisable effort of shifting gears towards the future. While a dedication to sustainability is cast through every step of production, the design itself represents a highly digitised future that beams bright, stirring the interests of creatives today.

As a nod to Poltrona Frau’s 110th anniversary, only 110 pieces of the limited edition chair have been made available for purchase worldwide. Each armchair will come with a custom-made clutch from the same Impact Less® leather, a signed certificate of authenticity, and a dedicated leather cleaning kit.

Collectors might also fancy getting the Archibald Limited Edition in miniature—handmade with the same care and attention to detail as the original, Le Miniature is every bit a coveted Poltrona Frau piece brandishing the furniture house’s artisan virtuosity.
