When Architology Interiors was tasked to transform the interior of a house in central Singapore, they were as taken with the lush greenery that surround this home. So they sought to maximise these views with large glass windows and a dark colour scheme, so that being in the house feels akin to “being in a luxurious gallery, observing the natural views in front of you”, says Terrence Quah, co-founder of Architology Interiors.

Adds Quah: “The house was designed around the idea of being an urban resort; the trees at the fringe of the property inspired this idea because the foliage of the treetops from the neighbouring site started at the same height as the first storey of the home.”

The owners’ love of marble and natural stone is celebrated throughout this abode, with their dry kitchen and dining room being every bit as glamorous as the rest of the home. The space features a beautiful bookmatched marble island that is complemented with sleek appliances, including the bestselling products from Swiss luxury brand V-Zug.

“V-Zug was selected [for this home] because from a design standpoint, V-Zug appliances have a sense of purity, elegance and usability which sets itself apart from appliances by other brands,” shares Quah, commenting on the modern design of the kitchen products.

“The V-Zug appliances bring in a sense of quiet beauty, and are designed with an architectural aesthetic that does not take attention away from the main design feature in a space but instead seeks to enhance and enable architects to accomplish the design they want to achieve.”

To make the marble island the centrepiece of the kitchen, Quah made sure to select furnishings and finishes in earthy walnut timber tones throughout to create a warmer cosy atmosphere within the dry kitchen. Brushed metal doors were selected for the fridge, while the induction hobs feature a mirrored black finish.

The seasoned designer highlights the induction hob, which he admires for its streamlined look, as well as the capacious design of the doors of V-Zug ovens and refridgerators. “The induction hob is unique in that the glass surface is flushed completely along the marble surface of the dry kitchen island; I love the purity of it. Overall, the proportion of the door sizes on the appliances appears to be more generous while blending seamlessly with the rest of the kitchen,” says Quah.

Besides their elegant appearance, Quah is as appreciative of the intuitive design of the appliances. “The ovens have handles that automatically retract into the oven when closed and extend out of the oven when the baking is complete. The fridges are proportioned in a way that is intuitive to our human experience. The doors are extra-wide and give a good view of the interior cavity of the fridge.”

All of these subtle yet exquisite details add up to form a beautiful tableau; all the better to create the perfect setting for a modern family to make cherished memories in their new abode.
