Sol Luminaire’s latest Aeon collection turns light into architectural details, and The Hour of Light showcase brings it home
A ceiling is rarely just a ceiling. It is the last surface most rooms forget to design. Homegrown boutique lighting purveyor Sol Luminaire’s new Aeon collection takes the opposite view, seven new fittings that treat the fifth wall as somewhere worth designing, each one built around what light should do up there rather than where it should sit.
Take the Aeon Gypsum. While most recessed lighting is designed to vanish as a hole with a bulb in it, the Gypsum does the opposite. Its raised gypsum frame becomes an accent of the ceiling’s surface, a designed relief rather than an interruption, structure and light resolved as one continuous plane. The same single point of light, now part of the ceiling it lives in.

The Aeon Halo V2.5 works a quieter kind of precision. The original Halo built its reputation on a single ring of light that softened any ceiling it touched and expanded the perception of the space beneath it. The V2.5 refines that idea through rigorous research and development to scale it down by 20 per cent to fit tighter spaces that the original never could, all without compromising on the quality of the light performance.

The rest of the collection carries the same conviction. Eggy pairs a solid, opaque cylinder with a transparent fluted funnel at its base, refracting light through each groove into a warm, glowing ring contained within the fitting itself, two moments in one object.

Goli takes its geometry from a traditional marble, its spherical form acting as a fisheye lens that casts a light throw which shifts and opens as you move through the room. The 30MM Rust reworks a fitting built to disappear, its deep terracotta exterior grounding the ceiling while a warm amber interior glows on within.

Then there is the Boba Table Lamp, the first Aeon piece to leave the architecture altogether. Every Boba before it was fixed in place, tracked, recessed, suspended. This one is portable and rechargeable, with the same frosted globe and signature soft glow, adjustable to every setting. No cord, no fixed position, no compromise on light quality.

Rounding out the seven is iKinetic’s self-powered switch, which puts control exactly where you want it without the constraints of conventional wiring, offered in a palette of minimalist colours or a signature transparent finish, nothing to hide, everything to show.
All seven are on display at The Hour of Light, Sol Luminaire’s showroom refresh running until 31 July, where the new collection is presented alongside a curated selection of decorative lighting from international and local names.

From Spain, A-emotional light transforms cold industrial materials into warm, sculptural pieces, its Baleira series built on an ethereal steel mesh structure, while Brétema’s layered volumes, inspired by superimposed clouds and the Atlantic sky, convey a striking weightlessness.

Danish house Lyfa contributes the textile-wrapped elegance of the Fute series and the polished, rhythmic tubes of Pan, balancing historical craftsmanship with a sleek, architectural expression. Pulp crafts light from organic waste and natural fibres, each piece handcrafted from recycled pulp and mulberry silk with a muted, earthy luminescence.

And the Perforated Boba extends the Aeon family through a bolder, brutalist lens, a warm 2200K glow encased in perforated steel, finished in white or champagne.
