More than 50 students joined the interior design contest launched by the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF) together with De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB). The winning teams were judged by an esteemed panel of judges including MET President Tina Colayco, UAPSA’s 2021 National President Maxine Lumbera, and more

The Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF) and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLSU-CSB) have received an overwhelming number of participants when it launched its interior design competition for 2022. The institutions, that both nurture the creativity of young Filipino students, invited an esteemed panel of judges including award-winning Landscape Architect and Environmental Planner Paolo Alcazarenan, Furniture Designer Gaston Lorenzo Pastrano, Atalier Almario CEO Ivy Almario, MET President Tina Colayco, Metro.Style Home and Living Editor Anna Magsaysay-Rosete, and UAPSA’s 2021 National President Maxine Lumbera.

The contest, which was joined by 57 art students, sought to tap into young students' creativity in designing contemporary spaces. "Benilde is an ideal partner because it has this inclusive and innovative educational activity that provides experiential opportunities for students and apply classroom-based knowledge to actual practice thereby finding solutions to challenges.” said Emily Abrera, RMAF Trustee.

The collaboration between RMAF and DLSU-CSB is also in line with the former's plan to "revitalise" its homebase in Manila. Designed by Alfredo J. Luz, the Ramon Magsaysay Centre is being transformed into a smart and sustainable building with world-class facilities such as a revamped Magsaysay Laureate Library and Museum, Ramon Magsaysay Hall and Plaza, function rooms, an innovation hub, and an idyllic coffee shop with breathtaking views of the Manila Bay.

The Foundation also aims to turn the the Ramon Magsaysay Centre into "Asia’s centre for inspiration and hope, a top destination in the region."
