Organic and effortless, the natural world informs Villeroy & Boch’s Antao collection

In these wellness-aware times, Villeroy & Boch’s new Antao collection sets out to create the energy and sanctuary nature affords us.

The bathroom collection is designed by Cologne-based studio, Kaschkasch, whose work has been described as a mix of function and emotion, offering clean and simple shapes with highly considered details.

Similarly, Antao plays with the perfectly imperfect shape of a dewdrop to create a holistic collection where shapes, colours and materials converge in perfect harmony.

Perfectly Imperfect

The quest for a perfect shape with a natural look, was the starting point for Antao. The dewdrop provides a common theme linking all elements: ceramic, bath, furniture, mirrors and taps.

This shape is evident in the surface-mounted washbasins’ slightly asymmetrical yet completely balanced organic form. In addition to the surface-mounted washbasins in three different sizes from 40 to 65cm, Antao is also available as a vanity unit from 80 to 120cm, with a softly flowing transition from shelf to basin.

Also, like how two dewdrops are the same, a different shape was developed for each washbasin size in the Antao collection.

Apart from giving the items a distinctive design, the organic asymmetry has functional benefits. For example, it provides a perfect location for the coordinating Antao taps.

These taps pick up on the dewdrop theme with soft contours, ideally complementing the collection with 11 different models in Chrome, Matt Black and Brushed Nickel finishes.

Atmospheric Colours

The collection colours are informed by nature. As well as classic white in a matt or glossy finish, ceramics come in the on-trend colours of Matt Black, Almond and the new shade of Morning Green.

These mellow, earthy colours convey a sense of peace and relaxation in the bathroom, further complemented by furniture colours such as Stone Grey, Leaf Green or Midnight Blue.

One particular feature is the three different organically shaped illuminated mirrors. These set the perfect mood in the room with atmospheric background lighting via a touch sensor or with Smart Zigbee control.

Place Making

Antao furniture coordinates perfectly with the collection’s ceramic elements with high-quality natural materials, textured fronts, a harmonious selection of colours, and high-quality painted surfaces in mellow hues.

This extensive furniture range consists of different sizes of vanity units and consoles and a selection of complementary furniture such as a sideboard, highboard, tall cabinet and medium cabinet. Materials include real wood furniture in Honey Oak and Warm Walnut and an elegant natural panel in Botticino marble.

The base and panel can be configured freely, from single-colour looks to exciting combinations like a painted body with a wood or marble panel. Internal areas of the furniture are structured and can optionally be fitted with dividing modules in oak for clear organisation. Optional LED drawer lighting provides visibility even in the dark.

Bathing Beauty

A highlight of the collection is the free-standing bath with subtle asymmetry that also meets the highest requirements in terms of ergonomics and functionality.

Made from the finest Quaryl with 60 per cent quartz content, the bath feels pleasant against the skin and keeps the water hot for longer. The slender rim and 48cm depth provide maximum space for exceptional bathing comfort.

Available in single-colour versions in Alpin White, Stone White, Grey and the new Morning Green, Bi-colour options are also possible with a white interior and coloured panel in a choice of 200 RAL shades.

With the coordinating free-standing bath tap and its flowing contours, the bath will transform any bathroom into a haven of peace and relaxation. The SilentFlow filling system is also available as an extra comfort upgrade option where the water flows into the tub from below in the shape of a star. This ensures no annoying splashing while preparing an indulgent, relaxing bath.
