2nd Edition maps out liveable spaces with dream kitchens featuring V-Zug’s culinary appliances for The Continuum show gallery

For Hilary Loh, spatial design has always been critical in her process. Drawing upon her repertoire with 2nd Edition—the interior design consultancy she founded in 2005—this signature approach is especially evident in the show suites she has worked on for penthouse and condominium developments in Singapore.

A prime example of these acute design sensibilities lies in the liveable open-plan spaces crafted in the locally-based design firm’s recent project for The Continuum. Jointly developed by Hoi Hup Realty and Sunway Development, the 816-unit residential development is a freehold property in District 15. The luxury high-rise condominium is built on 263,794 sq ft of land and boasts a wide range of units for individuals and families alike—this includes spacious penthouse units and a variety of one- to five-bedroom units designed with the contemporary needs of homeowners top-of-mind.

Don’t miss: How to design a more sustainable home with V-Zug

Above Hilary Loh of 2nd Edition tells us how her team created dream kitchens in The Continuum by incorporating V-Zug appliances into the interior design

While catering to the elevated lifestyle of modern homeowners and property investors today, it is safe to say that each unit imparts a timeless yet functional style that marries sophistication and rich culture. “My design inspiration for the project references the coexistence of heritage and modernity,” tells Loh. “Each unit is curated to suit different lifestyles and interior design preferences.”

More than not, the open-plan living and kitchen concepts she has crafted in this project are truly breathtaking. Maximising the spatial dimensions of each floor plan, Loh gives the interiors of each residence a modern-meets-classic spin with “light neutral tones” and “the finest natural stone,” matched with bespoke cabinetry and V-Zug’s suite of culinary innovations. “We like how V-Zug appliances merge seamlessly with our interior design scheme,” shares Loh.

Beyond incorporating V-Zug as a stylish design accent that is “timeless and sleek,” it’s clear that the luxury brand has been a household favourite for the designer’s projects due to its core values in offering the finest home appliances with long-lasting durability. After being introduced to V-Zug in 2018, she has since continued to design evocative spaces with the Swiss brand’s state-of-the-art appliances that is second to none. In the Continuum, the wet and dry kitchens designed by 2nd Edition features the Classic and Excellence series of appliances from V-Zug.

“A dream kitchen to me should be intuitive, functional, and with the assistance of smart and modern appliances it should make life easier while looking beautiful. [On that note,] I admire V-zug for their Swiss-made precision and quality,” quips Loh. “For instance, in the five-bedroom show flat, we stacked the oven on top of the wine chiller and on the side of the integrated fridge and freezer.”

Sustainability was also a huge consideration when developing the interior design for The Continuum’s residences. When it came down to working on the bare bones, Loh and her team ensured that the furnishings and home brands selected did not compromise the environment—this resulted in V-Zug becoming a natural choice for the project, especially since the appliances are carbon-neutral and use recyclable materials like glass. “We wanted to find a brand that values sustainability and is aligned with the developer’s vision—to create beautiful homes with green standards,” shares Loh.

Needless to say, The Continuum truly celebrates the elevated luxuries of East-side living in Singapore but more than that the heart of any home, the kitchen.
