One of Italy’s most celebrated lighting designers, Venetian-born Gino Sarfatti designed more than 600 innovative luminaires throughout his career, each design revolutionising traditional typologies through innovative and experimental approaches to materials, form, and lighting technology.
In the pivotal year of 1966, Sarfatti created the revolutionary Model 600 lamp, coinciding with Bottega Veneta’s establishment in Vicenza and its first steps in leather craftsmanship.
Just as Bottega Veneta’s earlier bags were celebrated for their supple leather and fluid forms, Sarfatti’s Model 600 broke free from rigid traditional design constraints, featuring a flexible base filled with lead shot pellets and wrapped in smooth leather.

Whether placed on a side table or floor, this ingenious design allows the lamp to adapt to any surface, while its adjustable reflector can provide either direct or indirect light, making it equally suitable for focused task lighting or creating a soft, relaxing atmosphere.
While preserving the original’s iconic silhouette, Flos and Bottega Veneta’s reinterpretation of the Model 600 lamp is available in small and large sizes, and incorporates the latest LED technology, creating a modern heirloom that will illuminate spaces and inspire design enthusiasts for generations to come.
