How To Find The Perfect Partner (In Business)
Valentine’s Day is in the rear-view mirror for another year, but the usual deluge of “finding the perfect partner” content got us thinking about the path to the second most important partner in your life: your business partner. Sadly, there’s no Cosmo quiz with all the answers for finding your ideal match. It’s a case of trial and error—and in some cases a bit of dumb luck, too. We asked five Generation T listers to give us their take on what makes the perfect partner in business. As expected, finding someone who shares your vision and complements your skills were top of the list of priorities, but not always for the reasons we were expecting—and they were far from the only factors to consider. And because this couldn’t be a Valentine’s Day-related article without it, we also asked each Gen.T lister to tell the story of how they met their (business) partner.

Klook’s Founder On How To Build A Business Across Borders
Travel app Klook is Asia’s largest in-destination services booking platform. From Seoul to Singapore, travellers use Klook to get preferential rates and access at tourist attractions and services. In Hong Kong, that means everything from Disneyland to the Peak Tram. When Generation T lister Eric Gnock Fah co-founded the Hong Kong-based startup in 2014, the platform was built to scale across borders from its inception. “From day one we were in Hong Kong, and within two months we set up in Shenzhen and then Taipei,” says the Mauritius-born entrepreneur. Klook now employs over 500 people in 15 cities across the world. “A year ago, we had 160 people,” says Gnock Fah. “By the end of this year it will be close to 800 or 1,000.” The company’s growth has been propelled by several successful rounds of funding, culminating in a US$60 million series C in October 2017 that added Goldman Sachs to its list of high-profile backers. Klook recently reached another milestone by opening an office in Amsterdam—its first outside Asia. “We’re the leader in Asia, and now we want to tackle the US and Europe,” says Gnock Fah. Given Gnock Fah’s success building a startup to be multinational from day one, he’s perfectly placed to offer advice on how to create a business that seemingly transcends borders. Here are his five tips.

Han Chong Of Fashion Label Self-Portrait On The 7 Things That Matter To Him
Self-Portrait is one of those contemporary designers loved by celebrities and digital influencers, to even Kate Middleton. It's also an accessible label loved by regular fashionistas, that doesn't cost an arm and leg. Penang-born Han Chong established Self-Portrait in London in 2013, weaving an empowering ethos into his characteristically edgy, lace designs. In 2016, the Generation T lister’s talent won him the Emerging Talent Award at the 2016 British Fashion Council, a proud accomplishment for an individual striving to make luxury wear accessible. What singled Han out was a determination to design an inspiring label. Propelled by the creative influence of women who raised him, his meaningful efforts shone through in his designs. “Strong women inspire me. My design progress usually begins by taking a little bit of each of these women to build a character for our Self-Portrait girl,” Han explained. “I was determined to make pieces that women could wear and feel they could achieve anything.” We talked origins and purpose with Han, centred around everything from childhood and happiness, to even superpowers.
