Why choose between a cookie and croissant when you can have both?

Move over, cronut—there’s a new croissant hybrid in town. Enter, the crookie.

The concept is deceptively simple: a croissant, twice-baked, much like one would for an almond croissant. There is, however, one small caveat: rather than fill the centre with delightful marzipan, you stuff the croissant with classic chocolate chip cookie dough and add some extra on top for good measure, resulting in that perfect crispy-gooey contrast.

Invented by Stéphane Louvard of Boulangerie Louvardin in Paris, the croissant-cookie hybrid actually hit the shelves in October 2022, but it wasn’t until February 2024 that le crookie (as it was originally called) went viral on TikTok. Now, the family-run bakery sells upwards of 2,000 cookies a day.

It didn’t take long for the crookie to take Paris, and soon, the rest of the world by storm—including the Philippines. Itching to try the hybrid pastry? Here’s where to get your hands on the crookie in Metro Manila:
