1. Inatô

Location: The Alley at Karrivin, Makati City

At Inatô, chef JP Cruz (formerly the sous chef at Toyo Eatery) steps into the limelight to offer his unique interpretation of Filipino cuisine, coloured by his (and his team’s) personal experiences. But the sleek, artful space is the first thing that catches your eye. Designed by Studio Ong, the restaurant is inspired by the humble banana, as the wall appears to peel off from the surface. Look closely, and you’ll notice one of the panels conceals a hidden passageway to the restroom.

Location: Solaire Resort, Parañaque City

With its luxurious interiors and majestic windows boasting a romantic view of Manila Bay, it is no wonder why Finestra Italian Steakhouse is a popular choice for grand occasions. The next time you dine at this elegant restaurant, politely excuse yourself and make a trip to the bathroom: spacious, well-lit, and dressed in chic marble, it’s perfect for a quick touch-up before desserts.

3. Blackbird at the Nielson Tower

Location: Ayala Triangle, Makati City

A true dining institution by the distinguished chef Colin Mackay, Blackbird at the Nielson Tower is no stranger to life’s precious moments, be it birthdays or anniversaries, long-awaited family reunions or spectacular events. A meal at the restaurant is easily distinguishable via photographs, not only of their iconic art deco interiors and signature bites but also of cheeky floor-to-ceiling mirror selfies with friends in their modern, minimalist ladies’ room.

4. Metiz

Location: Karrivin Plaza, Makati City

With its textured, cracked wall in striking yellow and a stylish round mirror backlit in rich yellow to match, the bathroom at Metiz emits a bright, warm glow, convenient for a quick “fit check” between courses. Of course, that’s far from the main attraction at this celebrated Filipino restaurant—the food, and the values it represents will always steal the show here—but it’s certainly a welcome perk.

5. Sampiro

Location: Salcedo Village, Makati City

Nestled in the heart of Salcedo Village, Sampiro is an inviting neighbourhood bistro designed to echo into its lush surroundings, while enriching the district with its playful Asian twists on comfort food classics and colourful art deco design. The thoughtful, eccentric interiors seamlessly extend to their restrooms—though small and dim, its retro lighting fixtures and gold-hued ceiling continue to immerse you in the Sampiro’s nostalgic feel.

6. Manam at The Triangle

Location: Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati City

Yep, there’s more to love about Manam at The Triangle apart from its refreshed interiors, branch exclusives, and convenient reservations platform. When visiting Manam’s newly-opened flagship store, be sure to snap a photo or two in their bathroom. Manam's thick, ornate mirrors paired with their colourful, playful custom-made floral wallpaper as your backdrop, will easily help you elevate those mirror selfies

7. Toyo Eatery

Location: The Alley at Karrivin, Makati City

Whether in service, food, or beverages, Toyo Eatery is never one to overlook the details, making each experience more memorable than the last through thoughtful gestures. On your trip to the loo, expect fun music blasting from the restroom speakers, distinct from what plays throughout the restaurant (on my last visit, it was a karaoke-friendly playlist of yacht rock hits). Then, pat your hands dry with some of the restaurant’s “Good Morning” towelettes—a historical symbol of labour and hard work across Southeast Asia.

Location: The Balmori Suites, Rockwell Center, Makati City

Hapag has officially opened the doors to its new home at The Balmori Suites, unveiling a stunning, high-ceilinged space with tasteful Filipino touches. On the mezzanine level, you’ll find Ayà their sleek, skylit cocktail lounge offering à la carte plates and cocktails infused with their innovative Filipino style. Their powder room at the floor level, right before the welcome desk makes for great photos thanks to their hanging mirrors (especially in the natural light when they eventually open for lunch), and grants you a view of Rockwell’s bustling streets, too. Their faucets also bring a futuristic flair to their otherwise down-to-earth design, complete with a digital temperature control.
