Meet the individuals behind the dishes at Malaysia’s Longest Brunch, part of Tatler Dining Festival, featuring IQOS
A highlight of the inaugural Tatler Dining Festival, featuring IQOS, is set to take shape with a lavish, Viking-style meal curated by some of the city’s most beloved pop-up chefs. Malaysia’s Longest Brunch will take place at REXKL on November 24, 2024, and bring together the culinary prowesses of homegrown talents including 2nd Breakfast, Locus, Nic Wong (better known as AppleFishCakes), and Joel Kirk.
As the festival takes over Chinatown, over 100 diners can expect to start their mornings with a communal five-course brunch feast like no other, complete with one-of-a-kind dishes available for one day only. Here is the lineup you can expect to cook up a storm from 11 am to 2 pm on November 24.

2nd Breakfast

With Lara Faizal and Zaim Zulkarnain at its helm, 2nd Breakfast has steadily become one of the city’s most sought-after dining pop-ups. The playfully named spot is known for its breakfast sandwiches, which celebrate the best of morning meals, from perfectly cooked eggs and golden hash browns to moreish homemade mixed berry jam.
Locus

Born in 2023, Locus often hosts masterclasses, kitchen takeovers, guest chefs, and workshops to highlight local talent. The brainchild of the team behind LI Restaurant and Provisions (Lim Yee Rui, Lim Heng Kit, and Lee Ziyan), the 16-seater space also offers seasonal tasting menus and communal-style dishes perfect for its intimate setting.
Nic Wong

Besides his Instagram handle (@applefishcakes), Nic Wong is best known for his celebrated sauce-smothered katsudon. Having made appearances at Dou Dou Bake, Dissolved Solids, Ember, and more, Wong takes pride in the local pop-up scene and heralds it for granting him more creative freedom. That being said, you can currently find him in the kitchen of Spacegrey.
Joel Kirk

Known for heading the kitchen of Bangsar’s Coley, Joel Kirk is also known for some of the city’s most exciting pop-ups. Starting his career in hotels and restaurants around Kuala Lumpur before staging at Noma and joining Sitka, Kirk found inspiration in modern Asian cuisine with innovative flavour combinations which he brings to the tables of Coley and his pop-up series, Harmony House.
