The evening was dedicated to celebrating the best of Malaysia’s dining scene
The Tatler Dining Awards 2024 is dedicated to providing an annual roundup of recommended dining experiences around the country. This yearly tradition of identifying and celebrating Malaysia’s premier chefs and restaurateurs continues yet again, with a ceremony held on January 22, 2024.
Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX, a venue not yet open to the public, was our esteemed venue partner for the awards. Guests included chefs, restaurateurs, panellists, and industry professionals who paved the region’s culinary landscape.

This year, for the first time, the Tatler Dining Guide has taken on a new format. Rather than sending individual reviewers to restaurants for physical reviews, a panel of industry leaders and tastemakers were responsible for nominating and voting to help the Tatler Dining team determine the Top 20 Restaurants and the Best of the Year Awards.
This has expanded the breadth and diversity of restaurants featured in the guide, allowing Tatler Dining to expand its scope to cover many new countries across the region. Soon to be unveiled is also Tatler Best Restaurants Asia, a list of the 100 top restaurants to visit, which will be announced at the Asia-wide awards for the first time.
With that said, the Top 20 Restaurants in Malaysia was announced. Beautiful award plates, courtesy of Noritake, Artelia, were presented to the selected restaurants.
Also announced were the recipients of nine special awards: Rising Star, Best New Restaurant, Best Interior, Best Sommelier, Best Pastry Chef, Chef of the Year, Impact Award, Best Service and Restaurant of the Year. The winners took home award plates to adorn their respective establishments.

After the formal proceedings were completed, guests proceeded downstairs to the bar area for canapes from Aurum Theatre and drinks. Craft beer was flowing courtesy of Malaysian brewery Paper Kite, while Roku Gin provided gin-based cocktails. Guests were also kept hydrated with Spritzer’s still and sparkling water and admired the intricate Noritake plates on display.
