The legendary Ginza sushi restaurant makes its first foray into Hong Kong
Get ready, sushi enthusiasts, because Tokyo's two-Michelin-starred Sushi Kanesaka is set to bring its lauded style of Edomae omakase to Hong Kong this September. The highly anticipated joint venture between acclaimed Japanese chef Shinji Kanesaka and Lai Sun Dining takes over the venue at Central's CCB Tower that formerly housed Masa Hong Kong. In its current incarnation, Kanesaka Hong Kong offers an intimate space for a select few—just 20 lucky guests at a time, who dine within minimalist environs against a backdrop featuring the Legislative Council and HSBC Building.
Commanding the helm is none other than head chef Seiji Taniguchi, formerly of Sushi Kanesaka's prestigious Tokyo Palace Hotel branch and who trained under Kanesaka's protégé, Kikuchi Shunsuke. During its opening phase, Kanesaka Hong Kong will serve three menus: a "pure sushi" lunch set featuring two starters, thirteen pieces of sushi, soup, and dessert (HK$2,000); a lunch omakase of six starters, seven pieces of sushi, soup, and dessert (HK$2,800); and finally, the dinner omakase clocking in at HK$3,500 for seven starters, ten pieces of sushi, soup, and dessert—although, according to a restaurant representative, these may change depending on the day's supply of seafood given the current restrictions on Japanese food imports.

Kanesaka Hong Kong joins Kanesaka's burgeoning global empire of high-end sushi, with two locations in Tokyo, one in London's 45 Park Lane hotel, as well as Shinji by Kanesaka, an extension of the original brand that can be found in Singapore's Carlton hotel as well as The St Regis Singapore.
Open from 12.30pm to 3pm for lunch and 6.30pm to 11pm for dinner from Monday to Saturday, seats are sure to go quickly at this highly anticipated opening. Book here.
