The results were announced at the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide 2025 awards ceremony, which took place at Marina Bay Sands on April 25

The Black Pearl Restaurant Guide’s 2025 awards ceremony for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas regions was held at Marina Bay Sands on April 25, marking the first time the event has taken place outside China since its 2018 inception.

Established by e-commerce giant Meituan, the guide celebrates Asian fine dining with a distinctly Chinese perspective. Wang Puzhong, CEO of Meituan’s core local commerce segment, noted: “This year, more than 14 percent of restaurants featured in the 2025 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide are located outside Greater China.” He added that their “internationalisation strategy not only promotes Chinese culinary traditions beyond our borders but also fosters collaboration, learning, and integration with global gastronomic cultures.”

The Black Pearl Restaurant Guide features 370 restaurants from 31 Chinese cities and three overseas locations, ranked across three tiers: One Diamond, Two Diamonds, and Three Diamonds. An anonymous panel of judges finalised selections based on three key criteria: elevated dining experience, balance of tradition and innovation, and appreciation of cuisine through a Chinese culinary lens.
