Cover OCBC The Private Table: Inheritance

How OCBC Premier Private Client is bringing conversations around legacy, family and aspiration to the table

What does inheritance taste like?

For some, it may be found in a treasured family recipe. For others, it lives in traditions passed down through generations, lessons shared around the dinner table, or memories that continue to shape their lives today.

These ideas sit at the heart of The Private Table, a new signature lifestyle platform by OCBC Premier Private Client, created to explore a more personal dimension of wealth, one shaped not only by what we accumulate, but by what we choose to pass on.

Inspired by the inaugural theme, Inheritance, the platform is built around a simple belief:

Not every inheritance sits in a vault. Some are served at the dinner table.

Where Wealth Meets Legacy

While wealth is often measured by assets accumulated, The Private Table explores a broader and more enduring definition of wealth. At its heart, it has always been about aspiration, the desire to create opportunities, preserve values and leave something meaningful behind.

Today, many affluent families are increasingly focused on how wealth is preserved, stewarded and eventually passed on. These conversations often extend beyond portfolios and investments into questions of family, purpose and legacy.

The Private Table was created to celebrate those conversations through the universal language of dining.

A Journey Told Through Food

The inaugural edition unfolds across three distinct experiences.

The journey began with an intimate Invitation Luncheon, where participants gathered to receive their bespoke invitation kits and were introduced to the theme of Inheritance.

It continues with Behind The Craft, where selected clients and their loved ones come together for a private culinary experience, transforming cherished memories, family traditions and inherited stories into meaningful dishes under the guidance of Michelin-acclaimed chef Darren Chin.

The experience culminates in At The Table, an exclusive dining experience where guests gather to celebrate the stories behind the dishes and the values they represent through a specially curated menu by Chef Darren.

The evening concludes with a recognition ceremony honouring standout interpretations of Inheritance for their storytelling, creativity and culinary expression. In keeping with the spirit of passing opportunities forward, donations will be made to Dignity for Children Foundation Malaysia, supporting educational opportunities for future generations.

Guided by a Story of Inheritance

Guiding the experience is Chef Darren Chin, Chef-Owner of the Michelin-starred DC Restaurant.

His own journey reflects many of the themes explored throughout the platform. Inspired by the legacy of his father, David Chin, a pioneer in Malaysia's culinary industry, Chef Darren has built upon those foundations while creating a distinctive identity of his own.

As advisor, judge and curator of The Private Table, he helps participants bring cherished traditions, lessons and memories to life through food, demonstrating how inheritance can be both preserved and reinterpreted by each generation.

A Natural Extension of Premier Private Client

The Private Table is a natural extension of the vision behind the 18,000 sq ft OCBC Premier Private Client Centre in Bangsar, a destination created for affluent individuals, families and business owners seeking more than traditional wealth conversations. Designed around personalised advice, meaningful engagement and curated experiences, the Centre reflects a more holistic approach to wealth and the aspirations that shape it.

Reserved for clients who deposit and/or invest RM3 million or more with OCBC Premier Private Client, the proposition combines personalised wealth advisory with exclusive privileges and thoughtfully curated experiences.

Underpinning this is OCBC's Whole of Wealth approach, which brings together the strengths of OCBC Bank, Bank of Singapore and Great Eastern across banking, wealth management, insurance, protection and legacy planning. In Malaysia, the Bank's wealth income grew by 56% year-on-year, reflecting a growing demand for integrated wealth solutions that support clients across every stage of their journey.

In many ways, The Private Table brings that philosophy to life beyond banking. It creates a space where stories, traditions and aspirations can be shared, reminding us that the most meaningful wealth journeys are often defined not only by what we build, but also by what we choose to pass on.
