We round up the food and drink happenings that you should know about this week

Even with the past week's double whammy of T8-level typhoons, Hong Kong's voracious appetite for eating out wasn't dampened in the slightest, with many of you braving wind and rain to dine out the moment there appeared to be a break in the stormy weather. Hopefully it's all smooth sailing from here on out, as we train our sights on the culinary delights that the coming weeks have to offer, from truly indulgent eats to dessert and cocktails all wrapped up in one.

Sweet tooths rejoice: Butter Cake Shop is expanding its footprint with a permanent location on Soho's Staunton Street, joining its ongoing pop-up at Landmark Atrium. The bright red signage and oversized lettering of the facade make it hard to miss; inside, customers can pick up their online orders or purchase a limited number of cakes and pies made daily. Weekends will see the arrival of limited-edition treats such as lemon bars and chef Karys Logue's own-recipe banana bread, too.

To celebrate, Butter will launch the Confetti Cake from October 22 onwards. Essentially a buttery vanilla cream cake layered with rich and fluffy vanilla buttercream frosting and packed full of rainbow sprinkles, the cake will be available whole (HK$550) via the Butter website, or by slice (HK$90) only at Landmark Atrium.

Drunk On Dessert

Deriving its name from an amalgam of bar, coffee and dessert, Barcode is making good on two of those elements with its new collaborative series, Sweet Tooth Club. Taking place in the speakeasy space towards the back of the cafe, the series begins on October 20 with a two-way collaboration between Fernet Hunter brand manager Sebastian Robinson and Ronin general manager Mamta Singh, and returns on October 27 with an ensemble consisting of Casa Cucina's chef-founder Anthony Cheung, Tastings Group beverage manager Alex Ko, and Hungie Wong, bartender at Room 309.

Each night from 8pm onwards, guests will be presented with a pairing of three cocktails and three desserts—exactly what these are will only be revealed on the night. Book your seats via email or WhatsApp at +852 9821 5501.

Caffeine Or Bust

PMQ's annual coffee festival, Coffee Agenda, makes a return on the weekend of October 22 to 24. Beyond just providing a place to drink and buy beans and paraphernalia, Coffee Agenda 2021 also encompasses a cross-disciplinary experience zone to "extract three sets of memories and learnings of life—is coffee merely an energy booster or a mouthful of pure sensation to brighten your day?", as its website reads.

Among the line-up of coffee brands are cafes like Urban Coffee Roaster, Ideaology, OMA, and First Place Coffee; roasters such as Stone Coffee, Lot19, and Radix Coffee; and lifestyle shops including Middle Scone and Midway Shop. Admission is free for all.
