The obsession with the high-stakes dalgona candy game has reached H Code

Without a doubt, one of the year’s most memorable (or is that meme-able) Netflix shows has been Squid Game, the dystopian South Korean thriller centering around children’s playground competitions with deadly results. Early on in the series, dalgona candy—that iconic honeycomb sweet that underscored the drink of choice across the world in early 2020—features as part of a nerve-wracking skills- and patience-based game, and has unsurprisingly spawned a whole genre of memes and instructional videos on how to recreate the deceivingly simple candy at home.

We’re expecting more and more businesses to get in on the craze, and first out of the pack is Cookie DPT, whose sweet treats have always been quick off the mark to cash in on the latest trending topic. From 14-17 October, the brand is partnering with their sister restaurant Carbs to present a tongue-in-cheek pop-up featuring the dalgona candy game, with prizes to be won: a Squid Game treat box filled with square, circle and triangle-shaped delectables (chocolate toffee walnut crunch cookie, chocolate chip scone, and a cookies and cream brownie).

At 2:00pm and 6:00pm from Thursday to Saturday, players can try their luck at playing the honeycomb game for a chance to win, fuelled by free-flow beer. At the time of writing, spots were filling up quick—so head to Cookie DPT’s social media channels to sign up.
