Don’t miss a trip to Contramar

“Visit Contramar for the best modern dining in Mexico City. Specialising in seafood, the trendy and buzzing restaurant is owned by chef Gabriela Cámara, one of the movers and shakers in the dining scene and also the culinary advisor to the Mexican president. Order the tuna sashimi seasoned with soy, sesame, and crispy leeks, as well as the chile verde and chile rojo fish.”

For casual dining, visit Itacate del Mar

“In the historic quarters of the city sits this casual Mexican kitchen concept. Try the Garibaldi, as well as the Sope de Camarón, a thick corn tortilla layered with manchego and rábano.”

Be transported back in time at Rosetta

“While unassuming, Rosetta offers impeccable service with its simple menu that carries an Italian influence. Try the robalo in sea salt with herbs and samphire, the Angioletti pheasant pasta, the tres leches, and the guava ricotta pastry.”

For Mexican ingredients with a Japanese twist, visit Em

“Chef Lucho Martinez first opened this restaurant in Colonia Cuauhtémoc in 2018 before relocating to Roma Norte and rebranding it as Em, named after his daughter, Emilia. The restaurant offers a universal concept, using local Mexican ingredients with Japanese influences.”

Go to Loup for wine and snacks

“With an ever changing menu, Loup is a natural wine bar led by Joaquin Cardoso that serves snacks, a great place to stop before going off to dinner. The menu changes often and has Parisienne influence.”

Embark on a gastronomical journey at Lorea

"Lorea is led by Oswaldo Oliva Rico, previously of Mugaritz, and should not be missed for some serious dining."

For a comforting taste of Mexico, visit Eno

“Delicious and homey, Eno offers perfectly executed Mexican fare with nice interiors. There are four outlets across the city. Order the Caldo de Pollo, the tamales with chile verde, and the tortas with turkey breast, avocado, and tomato.”

Chomp down churros at El Moro

“Open since 1935, there are 14 El Moro outlets throughout Mexico. The hot chocolate is also really good.”

For impeccable use of local ingredients, visit Quintonil

“The most decorated restaurant in Mexico, the fare at Quintonil is super refined and utilises local produce. Highlights include the Chicatana ants homemade chorizo with santanero beans from Oaxaca and the Criollo corn tortillas from Santa María del Llano.”
