Where to eat and drink in The Five

The vibe at Tina's Taqueria is one that is perfect for a flight of tacos and a margarita in hand. The al-fresco dining set up on the rooftop gives a breezy feel. Their offerings don't just sit within the realm of Mexican food, but also great burgers, and delicious breakfast bagels.

Created as a love letter from a father to his son, who is unable to consume dairy, gluten, and soy, By Age 18 is a way for his son to enjoy Japanese favourites such as udon, in a way that is still within his dietary restrictions. The concept is impeccable, which is expected from the two founders—one chef, and one creative designer. 

Although udon is what you'll find across the menu, the star has been their matcha, which is fluffy, thick, and flavourful. 

You'll never find this place empty on a weekday lunch hour. Filled with Asian favourites, anything from Indian, Japanese, to Korean cuisine is all under one place here at NomNom East Food Hall. 

Popular amongst the office lunch crowd is Uokatsu Express, where you can get your mentai rice fix, or Tokyo Ramen to get a hearty bowl to power you through the rest of your day. 

What's a neighbourhood hangout spot without a kopitiam? Chope Chope serves the community here with the classics, including chicken rice, roti bakar, and their indulgent fried assam laksa. 

Quite often you will find the post-work crowd flocking over to The Industry, a relaxed gastro-pub with food and drinks. Whilst the interior is ragged and raw, with exposed concrete, brick, and metal fixtures, it still retains an airy atmosphere. 

All About Chew is the place to go to satisfy your chewy cookie cravings. You’ll spot its kiosk upon entering Block A, the smell of fresh baked cookies deliciously enveloping the space. Flavours range from classic Chewibacca chocolate chip cookies to the mega-sized Raspberry Softy cookies with white chocolate. 

CC:Roasters is a cosy space in Block E located at the back of Paolo Paolo Gelato. Apart from a quick caffeine fix (we recommend filter coffee of the day or an oat milk latte), it also sells its own coffee beans, filters, and other essential equipment to make that perfect brew. You can also take a peek at its roastery right at the back. 

Another great place for coffee is Feeka Coffee Roasters in Block E, where you’ll also find a full food menu. Food-wise, we love its curry laksa, Swedish meatballs, and smoked duck aglio olio.

For your caffeine kick, go for the sticky bun latte or classic iced black. Non-coffee drinkers can opt for some gut-healthy kombucha or teas.

Oolam is all about Southeast Asian cuisine. Traditional recipes and techniques, including grilling over local charcoal and coconut husks, are resuscitated here with contemporary flair.

The new spot located in The Five takes diners on a journey through the cuisines of Southeast Asia, from Cambodian amok trei to its signature mud crab curry and ginger torch flower ice cream. 

Located between The Five’s Pizza Mansion and Feeka is Mount Pleasure, a wine bar specialising in natural pours. Its selection of wines continually rotate and spotlight bottles from specialty vineyards. Each bottle or glass you order should always be paired with a brunch plate from Feeka or one of Pizza Mansion’s signature pizzas. 

Izakaya dining has made its way to The Five with the recent opening of Otoba. Blending Japanese bar snacks with East Asian influences, you’ll find perfectly charred kushiyaki and robatayaki, char siew-style lamb belly, chicken karaage, avocado tempura, and other izakaya classics. 

Jwala means flames in Sanskrit and true to its name, it specialises in the North Indian dish of tandoori but with a modern twist. Don’t miss its barramundi, tandoori croissant, biryani, chicken thigh, and paneer khurchan. 

Combining the rich flavours of Chinese cuisine with modern French techniques, Ling Long is led by head chef Lucas Lam. Try its signature ceviche prawns made with a tangy marinade and fu yu (fermented bean curd). 

Paolo Paolo Gelato serves freshly churned gelatos and sweet treats. You’ll find classic favours such as pistachio and Bacio, as well as more inventive flavours like the New York Cheesecake, peanut butter and jelly toast, and strawberry basil sorbet. 

Pizza Mansion was already a household name before opening a new branch here. Our favourites pizzas are the Silence of the Lamb, Say Cheese and Magic Mushroom. The truffle mac & cheese is also highly recommended.

For cocktail hour, venture to Rakh, Jwala’s sister cocktail bar. From a rassam-inspired cocktail to a smoked salmon-based tipple, its menu boasts a plethora of unconventional cocktails that promise to intrigue and satisfy. Our picks are the rasam spice and vodka, pineapple, galangal, and tequila, and unsalted popcorn with rum cocktails.

Taan Korean Steak House is a modern Korean BBQ eatery that offers top quality beef for its barbecues that go perfectly alongside its other main dishes. Expect a wide range of cuts and marinated meats available to supplement the other classic Korean dishes on the menu.

One of the pioneers of the brunch movement in the city, Yellow Brick Road serves Asian-inspired dishes with a creative spin such as appam balik pancakes, tandoori chicken burger, and salmon mentaiko pasta.
