Cover New York’s cult favourite ice cream brand Van Leeuwen opens in Singapore

This is the brand’s first overseas outlet that offers its classic yet indulgent French-style ice cream

Van Leeuwen, the cult-favourite brand from Brooklyn, New York that is famed for its indulgent scoops of ice cream, has opened its first outlet in Singapore. Located at Orchard Central, the outlet offers a selection of Van Leeuwen’s popular ice cream flavours such as earl grey tea and mint chip.

Founded in 2008 by Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen and Laura O’Neill, Van Leeuwen started out by as an ice cream truck selling scoops of ice cream on the streets of New York City. Over the years, the brand has gained a massive following thanks to its thick and creamy ice cream made the French way—with double the amount of egg yolks, making each bite rich and creamy. Today, the joint has expanded with 50 shops across America.

Another standout is the black cherry chip. The 2021 best-selling special flavour feature chocolate chips and black cherries swirled into creamy cherry ice cream.
