As August marks the close of durian season and the dawn of mooncake season, there’s no better way to celebrate than by merging these two beloved seasonal delights into one: durian mooncakes. Most mooncake collections go above and beyond to craft innovative treats and breathe new life into tradition, leading some to adopt these time-honoured pastries to cater to local palates.

You may find some infused with dragonfruit or savoury versions spiced with sambal, but the most sought after mooncake flavour in Malaysia has to be durian. Whether encased in snow skin or baked crusts, durian mooncakes are bound to impress this festive season. We’ve put together a list to help you source these robust treats to usher in the end of one season and the beginning of another.
