This week, Hong Kong’s dining scene is alive with happenings that demand a reservation. Cardinal Point, the rooftop bar at Forty-Five in Landmark, has reopened its doors after a summer-long renovation period. Now sporting a neo-retro design inspired by the colours of a sunset, the bar will serve an elevated Italian-American menu and cocktail programme, accompanied by a bespoke sound experience that treats listening as an essential ingredient to a night out.

Menu highlights feature elevated Italian-American brasserie fare along the lines of chorizo cheese bikini, squid ink linguine and Reuben sliders. The drinks programme showcases new amber-hued creations such as the West Face Killa and No So Naughty Root Beer, alongside signatures like the Larry Bird. An enhanced music programme is lining up both local artists and international acts.

Cruise Restaurant & Bar, the rooftop venue at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong, brings back its popular free-flow oyster dining experience. The Oyster Celebration dinner set features new starters and mains alongside 90 minutes of all-you-can-eat fresh French oysters. New additions include crispy oyster nest with tom yum mayo and Oscietra caviar, poached oyster and century egg salad with mala dressing, typhoon shelter-style soft shell crab, and yuzu miso tiger prawns.

The menu is available every Monday from 5pm to 11pm, priced from HK$468. A 90-minute free-flow of prosecco, wines and beer is also available at an additional cost.

Ho Lee Fook, a Tatler Best Spotlight honouree, welcomes Shenzhen’s award-winning modern Chiu Chow restaurant Gem Garden for a one-night-only collaboration. On October 8, the latter’s executive chef Xu Zhenkun will join executive chef ArChan Chan in Ho Lee Fook’s kitchen to present a ten-course menu showcasing Cantonese and Chiu Chow culinary traditions based on seasonality, freshness and natural flavours.

Highlights include lo shui (master stock)-marinated foie gras and Chenghai goose in Chaoshan brine, Chiu Chow-style marinated raw crab, charcoal-grilled Kurobuta pork char siu, and threadfin in seafood broth with Shantou preserved mustard greens and silver needle noodles.

The menu is priced from HK$988 per person.

An omakase to remember

Japanese restaurant Nobu Hong Kong is set to welcome Gábor Schreiner, executive chef of Nobu Budapest, for a limited-time collaboration. Schreiner will present a bespoke omakase menu alongside curated chef’s recommendations that draw on Hungarian elements and Central European flavours while staying true to Nobu’s Japanese-Peruvian culinary philosophy.

Highlights include toro truffle sashimi, where rich, marbled fatty tuna is crowned with generous shavings of black truffle, truffle paste and a drizzle of truffle oil; salmon sashimi with seared foie gras, finished with lotus root chips and a sweet-savoury unagi sauce; and duck dumpling with Wagyu tataki and aged parmesan, inspired by the central role the bird plays in Hungarian cuisine.

The omakase menu is available from October 5 to 11, priced from HK$1,888 per person. A Hokusetsu sake pairing and a two-glass wine pairing are also available at an extra charge.

In the mood for coffee

From September 17 to October 11, the Coffee Mood Camping Festival will take place in Ma On Shan’s Go Park with brew-focused events and stalls. Trending coffee brands from Bangkok, Seoul, Taipei and more will showcase their products at the marketplace, host hand-drip coffee demonstrations and offer tastings. A Cantopop coffee rave led by local DJ Deanz, coffee workshops and a pickleball experience also await.

The festival is free to enter. A Coffee Pass, which includes entry, a tasting cup designed by Chums and access to tastings around the festival, is complimentary when you spend HK$400 or more at selected Go Park venues.

French madeleine boutique Madé unveils its first seasonal creation, appropriately titled Over the Moon. This Mid-Autumn Festival-inspired release brings a tropical twist to the classic French pastry, with mango purée, dried mango pieces and a dusting of coconut.

The new flavour is available until October 8, from HK$98 for three pieces.

Executive chef Junno Li of The Chinese Library introduces a new seasonal menu grounded in autumnal flavours. The selection features hearty plates such as braised eel with shiso leaves and fermented black beans in a clay pot, braised pork neck with black vinegar and house spices, and simmered radish in chicken broth with Hunan smoked pork and pickled greens.

Other dishes highlight Alaskan king crab, a prized autumn catch. The crustacean stars in braised crab meat with bamboo fungus and shredded tofu in a rich seafood soup, as well as steamed king crab dumplings. All seasonal items are available à la carte.

Moroccan coffee house Bacha Coffee has opened The Pavilion at Hong Kong International Airport. Divided into three spaces—a 26-seater dining room, a boutique and a takeaway counter—the new outpost offers an all-day menu of signature sweet and savoury croissants, viennoiseries and coffee cakes, alongside more than 200 varieties of specialty coffees. The boutique showcases Bacha’s full range of products, ranging from coffee beans and grounds to brewing utensils and gift boxes.
