Celebrate Deepavali with these festive eats
Deepavali, the Festival of Lights, will be here in the blink of an eye, happening in just a few weeks on October 31, 2024. As with all celebrations in Malaysia, there is no better way to celebrate than with festive feasts.
Whether you and your family are in search of treats to fortify a homemade spread or would like to make the occasion one to remember by dining out, we’ve put together a guide to the Klang Valley’s Deepavali dining promotions and gift sets so you can plan with ease.

From indulgent buffets to gift hampers brimming with moreish sweets, here are six Deepavali offerings you should check out.
Sunway Resort Hotel

From October 28 to November 3, Sunset Terrace at Sunway Resort Hotel will be offering a festive lunch spread that celebrates the diverse flavours of India. The vibrant spread is set to continue into the evenings on October 30 and November 1 and 2 with a dinner buffet fortifies by traditional and contemporary eats
Coast by Kayra

Coast by Kayra, the seafood-powered arm of beloved Kerala cuisine restaurant Kayra, will offer an exclusive Deepavali menu from October 27 to November 3. Guests can expect to choose from chilli potato chaat, prawn toast, a biryani platter, lamb shank curry, paneer kofta, and rose pistachio panna cotta or besan ladoo mango shrikand for dessert.
Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

Over the course of eleven days from October 31 to November 10, Kwee Zeen will host Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara’s Deepavali celebration. The Taste of Mumbai buffet will see Chef Waris Qureshi of Sofitel Mumbai BKC take over Kwee Zeen’s kitchen with a tribute to Indian cuisine featuring dishes like Hyderabadi dum biryani, paneer tikka masala, Kerala roast fish, and prawn tawa pulao.

Frangipaani
The acclaimed Frangipaani is celebrating Deepvali with a gift hamper filled with a handpicked selection of treats. In each limited-run gift set, you’ll find motichoor ladies, masala cashews, chocolate truffles from Cocoraw, non-toxic incense cones, and handmade sandalwood soap.
Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur

The Festival of Lights will make its way to Lemon Garden at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur from October 28 to 31. The celebratory spread will take shape with an assortment of traditional delicacies from samosa chaat and spiced yoghurt-marinated prawn shashlik to lamb shank dum biryani and rasmalai.
For those who’d prefer celebrating at home, Lemon Garden 2 Go will offer a series of gift boxes from October 25 to November 1 filled with treats like coconut candy, til gur ki ladoo, assorted muruku, festive pralines, and more.
Aliyaa
This Deepavali, Sri Lankan restaurant Aliyaa will offer elegant gift hampers filled with an impressive assortment of treats. Perfect for festive gifting, each hamper comes with the restaurant’s signature cashew badun, muruku, an assortment of ladoo and chocolate, and miniature bottle of Montelevini Prosecco.
From October 21 to November, the restaurant will also offer its Feast of Light menu, complete with traditional Sri Lankan favourites from kalupol chicken to coconut payasam.

Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur

From October 31 to November 3, Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur will be celebrating Deepavali at Latest Recipe with an extravagant buffet dinner featuring a slew of classics. Expect punchy South Indian chicken 65, palak gosht, aloo gobi, Hyderabad murgh biryani, and sweets like kesari, jalebi, coconut cookies, and more.
Maria’s SteakCafé

From now till November 3, Maria’s SteakCafé is offering exclusive Deepavali set menus that highlight two of the restaurant’s signatures—New Zealand lamb cutlets and grilled salmon fillets. Designed for two or four pax, expect a festive meal here to begin with pumpkin soup, spiced mussels, and garlic bread before mains and a sweet course of moist chocolate cake topped with vanilla ice cream.
