Bak kwa is one of the most popular Lunar New Year snacks for good reason. It’s hard to resist its juicy and meaty flavours and the perfect balance of sweet and savoury in every bite. With Chinese New Year merely a few weeks away, we see almost every Chinese household stocking up on these sinfully delicious slices, prepared traditionally or barbecued using lychee wood. That said, if you’re still on the hunt for some bak kwa—to indulge in or give to your loved ones—here are some options that are worth the calories.
