Ever get a hankering for a deliciously satiating meal in the later hours of the evening? These are our go-to spots to scratch that itch

We’ve all been there—a dinner that wasn’t satisfying enough, a craving you can’t get rid of, and one you certainly can’t sleep off. With the amount of good food at arms length, there shouldn’t be a reason to deny yourself an extra meal for the day. Supper has the ability to let one’s reservations melt away, adding excitement to a day that seemed like it was ready to end.

Or maybe, it’s after a night out and you’re not ready to go home yet, depleted in calories from the activities of the hours prior.

In many ways, supper represents one of the most honest of meals, whether it’s a simple piece of roti canai, the humble indomie, or a full blown hotpot session. No matter how you come, stumbling or sauntering in with pyjamas or in full glam, these places are guaranteed to sort you out in the wee hours of the late night and early morning.

Restaurant Good Timing KL

If the name wasn’t a good enough hint for you, the swaths of supper-goers at any given day might just do it. Located in Jalan Alor, which is also home to many late night restaurants, this one stands out. Restaurant Good Timing KL has become one of the go-to spots for a late night meal for many because of its offering of local food, including the Kelantanese favourite of Nasi Kerabu.

If you’re not feeling Malay food, the fragrant zest of Thai food might be enough to sway you, or the heartiness of Chinese food. The world is truly your oyster here.

Perhaps easily missable amongst the hustle and bustle of the streets of Chinatown, Seng Kee has been stealthily serving up noodles for well over 20 years. Much unchanged in the decor, stepping into their establishment gives way to a wave of nostalgia. Known for the claypot lo shu fun, the dish only gets better over time as the claypots used get more seasoned with use.

Also popular here are the lamb skewers, flavoured with a generous amount of cumin, as well as the dumplings. Growing steadily in popularity, they have now branched out, including one in Kota Damansara, while the original spot has seen a refurbishment too.
