Celine Choong, one half of the husband-and-wife-duo behind grill restaurant Atelier Binchotan shares her favourite Klang Valley spots

Dou Dou Bake

“My go-to spot for pastries has always been Dou Dou Bake.” Situated in a quiet corner in Petaling Jaya, bakery-cafe Dou Dou Bake opened in 2020. Shrouded in greenery, the minimalist coffee spot boasts some of the town’s flakiest croissants as well as cooked breakfast options.

Jus APW

Since Choong and her husband, Lau Ka Hong, own JUS APW, they often find themselves staying back for a late night drink. And for good reason—the resto-bar has a variety of creative cocktails as well as wines, pairing well with the punchy sharing plates.

Brickfields Pisang Goreng

“For pisang goreng, I always stop by Brickfields Pisang Goreng for my fix.” Having been open for nearly 40 years, the stall is run by a father-and-son duo who have perfected the art of crispy fried banana.
