As Strategic Wine Partner of Tatler Best Asia Pacific 2026, Wynn brought 26 trophy-winning Chinese wines to Shanghai for the region’s top chefs, sommeliers and hospitality leaders
At Tatler Best Asia Pacific 2026 in Shanghai, Wynn Resorts Macau put Chinese wine in front of the region’s hospitality industry. Through its exclusive lifestyle brand, Wynn Signature, the company displayed 26 trophy-winning bottles on a dedicated wine tower and poured a curated selection at the welcome reception, introducing an international audience of chefs, sommeliers and restaurant professionals to the range and quality of Chinese wine today.
Those wines came from the Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards, the world’s largest professional competition dedicated exclusively to Chinese wines. Launched in 2024, the awards have grown quickly: the 2026 edition, its third, drew almost 180 wineries and more than 800 wines. A panel of 23 international wine authorities assessed the entries through strict blind tastings using the 100-point system, awarding gold, silver and bronze medals and selecting 36 trophies from among the gold winners. The guiding principle, “International Standards, Chinese Ingenuity,” is central to its credibility.

In three years, Wynn has built the competition into an intellectual property in its own right, and one with a role beyond the judging table. By anchoring a Chinese wine platform in Macau, the company has tied it to the city’s position as a City of Gastronomy, giving the awards a home base with genuine culinary standing and a natural gathering point for Chinese winemakers, international judges and the region’s dining industry.

During the award’s welcome reception, representatives from Devo Winery, Tian Ge Winery, Amethyard, Chateau Mihope and Chateau Zhong Fei poured their wines and talked guests through the soils and climates behind them. Amethyard’s Petit Manseng Sweet White 2024 from Hebei took the top honour, Best Wine of China, alongside trophy champions including Devo Winery’s MV04 and Chateau Mihope’s Cabernet Gernischt 2023 from Ningxia, Chateau Zhong Fei’s Zunxiang Shiraz 2023 from Xinjiang and Tian Ge Winery’s Kubuqi Desert Viognier 2023.

An award is only as useful as its ability to put bottles on tables that matter, and Wynn’s global network is built to do exactly that. Award-winning wines gain access to its dining portfolio and a year-round programme of tastings, themed dinners and food-and-wine pairings. That commitment was demonstrated during the Tatler Best Takeovers: on October 23 and 24, executive chef Tam Kwok Fung of Chef Tam’s Seasons at Wynn Palace joined chef Du Jian-qing and chef Weng Yongjun from Tatler Best award-winning restaurants Selection by Du and Yong Fu Shanghai for four six-hands collaboration lunches and dinners, while a separate collaboration saw Malaysia’s Restaurant Au Jardin join Garden Pavilion at Alila Shanghai on October 23. The wines from the Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards accompanied all six sessions, matched against Cantonese, Chaozhou and Ningbo cooking, with the wines holding their own alongside some of Asia's finest cooking and elevating the experience for every guest at the table.

The evening also saw the Best Sommelier Asia Pacific award go to Carlito Chiu of Andō in Hong Kong, recognised for pairings that champion under-represented producers. In her remarks on the Tatler Best stage, Ms Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited, spoke of a commitment to cultural innovation and world-class experiences in Macau.

By creating a platform where Chinese winemakers are judged by international standards, and then placing those wines in front of the region’s chefs and sommeliers, Wynn is building a pathway from China’s wine regions to the tables of Asia.
