From importer-run wine bars to restaurants with lists built by the owners themselves, these are the spaces redefining how Metro Manila drinks

Metro Manila’s F&B scene has grown rapidly—and with it, an evolving appreciation for fine wine. Some importers have opened their doors for “drink-in” services, hosting masterclasses and wine dinners designed to deepen one’s appreciation for what’s in the glass. Some B2B distributors have gone further, opening restaurants anchored by their own wine portfolios, stocked with vintages you won’t find in any bottle shop. Others have opened their cellar for retail, inviting guests to pick up a bottle to enjoy when they please.

Whether you’re a novice curious about the world of wine or a connoisseur seeking the best of the best, these 15 wine bars, restaurants, and tasting rooms are worth a visit.

This list is in alphabetical order.

1. Bar Pintxos

Locations: BGC, Taguig City; Rockwell, Makati City; Salcedo Village, Makati City; Alabang, Muntinlupa City; White Plains, Quezon City

A continued favourite for Spanish cuisine, Bar Pintxos boasts an impressive selection of wines to enjoy in-store or shop for home use. The restaurant is partly owned by Carlo Calma Lorenzana and Bobby Basa Tenchavez of Boca Juan Filipinas, which specialises in distributing Spanish, Argentinian and Italian wines, so you can expect some of the very best pours from these reliable regions at Bar Pintxos—think Rioja tempranillos, malbec from Mendoza and more.

Tatler Tip: Love Bar Pintxos? Check out sister concepts Txoko Asador and Goxo for more Spanish indulgences—and excellent wine.

2. Bibio

Location: 5659 Don Pedro Street, Poblacion, Makati City

Nestled within Poblacion, Bibio is a cosy, laid-back natural wine bar that lies in stark contrast to the bustling energy of the nightlife district. Perfect for date nights and small gatherings, the space frequently hosts chefs’ residencies and pop-ups, highlighting not only up-and-coming talents but the versatility of natural wine, too. The staff are trained to suggest wines based on mood rather than technical details, demystifying the often intimidating process. While Bibio is co-owned by Justin Apolonio and Vanessa Abat-Apolonio of Some Love, they do carry bottles from other distributors, too.

Tatler Tip: The team behind Bibio recently opened a new concept in BGC, June Eatery, where you can find a selection of natural wines, too.

3. Bombvinos Bodega

Location: 7224 Malugay Street, Makati City

Bombvinos is one of the country’s earlier natural wine specialists, importing low-intervention bottles from producers spanning Italy to Australia and the Czech Republic. Founded by cousins Paolo Monasterio and Joey Osmeña, the brand has built its identity around making natural wine feel approachable rather than niche, with a younger, playful sensibility that runs through its branding and events. In 2023, the pair opened the doors to the Bombvinos Bodega, offering a venue for curious-minded guests to enjoy their pours. The Bodega has quickly become something of a community space, with a range of events like trivia, DJ nights and tastings, as well as an evolving list of cocktails and coffees, plus a solid “Pinoy bistronomy” menu by Linamnam’s chef Don Baldosano.

4. Cartel

Location: 119 L.P. Leviste Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City

Cartel is a café, deli and bar that operates as an extension of Pablo Bistro, the Spanish-Mediterranean restaurant that’s become a beloved fixture of Salcedo Village. The wine list spoils you for choice, drawing from a range of suppliers, and the space doubles as a retail shop where you can pick up cheese, cold cuts and bottles to take home. Pablo’s tapas, thin-crust paellas and sandwiches are also available to order at Cartel, alongside a list of breakfast offerings and a coffee programme run through Yardstick.

5. Dominion Cellar

Location: 38 Jupiter Street, Bel-Air, Makati City

Founded by spouses Bill Yuen and Roxanne Lee, Dominion Cellar spans three storeys, each with a designated purpose. The ground floor operates as a retail shop with a strong focus on hard-to-source American labels, drawn from the family’s relationships with Napa producers, as well as deli staples and a lean list of casual bites. The second floor houses a dining room and wine bar, where chef Carlos Garcia of The Black Pig serves refined continental cuisine. Finally, the top floor acts as a tasting room primed for masterclasses and intimate events.

Tatler Tip: Dominion Cellar also features a members’ lounge with temperature-controlled wine lockers for regulars who want to store their own collection on-site.

6. Dr Wine Poblacion

Location: 5921 Algier Street, Poblacion, Makati City

Dr Wine was opened in 2017 by French sommelier-couple Vincent Landais and Eva Marzan-Landais, alongside JP Guillot of AWC Philippines and Simon Côté. The wine list features over 400 wines, including many from small producers, each tasted and chosen by the owners. Food leans French and unpretentious—cheese and charcuterie boards, salmon rillettes, bourguignon—with other surprises like beef cheek lasagna and baba ganoush thrown into the mix. Settle into the dim, rustic bistro downstairs or book a table on the rooftop terrace.

7. Good Morning Wines

Location: Prince Tower, Salcedo Village, Makati City

Good Morning Wines carries a smaller portfolio than most on this list, but certainly the most unique: Japanese wines, which are notoriously difficult to secure given how in-demand they are domestically. Each bottle carries the imprint of Japanese winemaking craft and terroir, resulting in flavour profiles that are hard to find anywhere else in the city. With just six seats, owners Micah Cabral and Dimitri Roleda provide an intimate and immersive experience that few can compete with.

8. M Dining + Bar

Location: Alegria Alta Building, Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City

M Dining + Bar counts Premium Wine Exchange (PWX)’s founding partners among its own ownership group, which shows in a wine list that runs deep even by fine-dining standards—over 600 labels strong (including rare vintages) with an equally serious whisky and gin programme at the M Bar. The restaurant not only boasts a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence, but also a White Star designation from the Star Wine List. Chef Tom Bascon helms the kitchen, serving his signature Asian-European fare in an elegant dining room built for both special-occasion dinners and quieter weeknight meals.

9. Project Vino Reserve

Location: Retail Row, The Proscenium at Rockwell, Makati City

Steven Ticzon first opened Project Vino in Poblacion with the aim of promoting wine as a casual, everyday drink. Together with partner Rob Martin, the pair have since established the more upscale Project Vino Reserve, hand-picking every bottle from wine expos worldwide—which are then housed in a glass-enclosed, temperature-controlled cellar. Project Vino Reserve also marks their first branch built around a full dining programme, with chefs RJ Ramos and Alphonse Sotero of Lampara and Papillon developing the pairing-friendly continental menu.

10. Tasting Room

Location: Levanto, 389 Jupiter Street, Makati City

The Tasting Room is Happy Living’s new outpost within Levanto, Makati’s new dining and design hub. Happy Living has been importing and distributing wine in the Philippines since 1994, building a portfolio anchored by exclusive labels like Beringer, Fortant de France and Chateau Montelena. The Tasting Room gives guests a chance to work through that range in a relaxed, unhurried setting—and having opened its doors on June 26, it’s the newest establishment on the list.

11. Terroir Wines

Location: Allegro Center, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City

Terroir Wines positions themselves as an importer geared towards introducing rising-star, boutique and family-owned producers to the local market, rather than chasing established big names. Their tasting room, known as Terroir Table, is open daily for casual tastings and is well-suited for private events. The venue also hosts tasting sessions and wine dinners from time to time—previous events include a Burgundy-focused wine and cheese discovery session with sommelier Ian Santos, and a wine and sweets pairing by sommelier Odie Pineda featuring desserts by Anna Baker.

12. Toka Wine

Location: 141 Katipunan Avenue, Saint Ignatius, Quezon City

Owned by Butz Tenchavez, who also imports and distributes wines under Gran Hacienda, Toka Wine carries close to 200 labels from 31 producers—heavier on Old World reds from Spain and Portugal, French whites, family-run labels and organic and natural wines—a far deeper bench than the room’s tiny footprint suggests. Beyond the bottles, Toka runs Will Host, a quarterly series that hands its small kitchen to guest chefs, alongside a streamlined menu of truffle gnocchi, sardines on toast with lardo and a double cheeseburger built to pair with the wine rather than compete with it.

Tatler Tip: Tenchavez recently opened another wine bar, Pluck, which specialises in rotisserie chicken—as well as a generous selection of orange wines designed to pair with it.

13. Txanton

Location: Alegria Alta Building, Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City

While most people know Txanton for its authentic Spanish cuisine by chef Justo Rodrigo Lopez, the Spanish restaurant actually started as a distributor of luxury Spanish products—jamón, olive oil, carabinero prawns and wine, among others—before growing into a full restaurant and deli. Fine wines remain one of their specialities, boasting an inventory north of 1,500 bottles. Txanton even offers membership-based wine locker services for collectors who wish to ensure their wines age and rest in pristine condition.

Tatler Tip: Looking for a memorable venue for your special occasion? Ask about the cave, hidden in the back of the building.

14. Wine Drop

Location: G&A Building, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City

Wine Drop is the retail arm of Antique Wine Company (AWC) Philippines, specialising in family-owned wineries from around the world. Led by managing director JP Guillot, their focus is curation over volume—every bottle is one the team has tasted and stands behind—and that philosophy extends into a steady calendar of events. Previous events include Burgers & Bottles, a three-course set menu in collaboration with Love Burgers; Petals & Pours, a cupcake decorating workshop paired with wine; and regular guided tastings.

Tatler Tip: Outside the store, Wine Drop also hosts a highly anticipated Jeepney Wine Tour.

15. Wine Story

Location: One Uptown Residence, BGC, Taguig City

Founded in 2010 by Romy Sia, Wine Story is a luxury wine retailer built around the idea that wine appreciation should be part of everyday life, not reserved for special occasions. Their strength lies in French wine, with emphasis on Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne. Their food is designed to pair perfectly with their wines, from foie gras on brioche and duck leg confit to rib-eye steak and linguine with cherry tomato sauce. Stay tuned for their wine classes and guided tastings—last May, they hosted a Champagne masterclass that featured exceptional pours from Veuve Clicquot, Dom Pérignon and Krug.
