Four exquisite expressions from the Diageo Rare & Exceptional range were spotlighted at our special whisky appreciation night held at Sky Bar

The skyline of Orchard Road was the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening at the Sky Bar, perched atop the 19th floor of COMO Metropolitan Singapore. It was where whisky enthusiasts gathered on May 30 for two sessions of Tatler Singapore and Diageo’s intimate whisky appreciation night featuring four exquisite Talisker expressions from the Diageo Rare & Exceptional range.

As the sun set, casting a golden glow over Singapore’s shopping haven, guests savoured a refreshing highball made with Talisker 10 and enjoyed specially curated canapés from COMO Cuisine. Ruby Garcia, the general manager of COMO Metropolitan Singapore, and Kunal Arya, welcomed the guests for the first and second sessions, respectively, and introduced COMO Group’s first luxury hotel property in Singapore which brought awarded F&B concepts such as Cote and Cedric Grolet Singapore, and wellness programmes such as the hot and cold therapies, to the island.

After the brief introduction, Keaty Ang, Diageo’s private client manager, hosted the masterclass which delved into the nuances of the Talisker 25 Year Old, 30 Year Old, 43 Year Old Xpedition Oak and 1984 Prima and Ultima III. It was a palate-pleasing journey that started with the 25 Year Old, which opened everyone’s palates with its fruity aromas and peppery notes, and continued with the 30 Year Old, which tasted of vanilla and spice, and everything nice.

Aged for more than four decades, the 43 Year Old Xpedition Oak was indeed special and boasted maritime characters interspersed with fruity and spicy notes, and a slightly peaty finish. Conversations flowed as freely as the whiskies that evening, as guests shared their tasting notes and personal preferences—most of them enjoyed the 1984 Prima and Ultima III, which tasted of delicate smoke and a peppery kick. The breathtaking views from Sky Bar added to the allure, making it a night to remember.
