13 new and beautiful Singapore hotels opening in 2023

Hmlet is adding a new hotel to its Hmlet Boutique Collection with Owen House. This 106-room property is inspired by the glitz and glamour of the 20’s. Clear glass panels line the lobby, inviting natural light into the space and blurring the line between interior and exterior. It also embraces old and new through modern art decorations expressed in various geometric elements and splashes of colour. The theme of blending the old and new are also seen in its rooms—find high ceilings in each room that overlook the city. Located in the heart of Little India makes the property convenient for anyone visiting, whether it be for work, travel or family.

Aloft Hotels has opened its very first Singapore location, Aloft Singapore Novena, which is currently the largest Aloft hotel in the world. Designed by KKS International, this new hotel takes inspiration from the brand’s “different by design” philosophy which pairs vibrant spaces with musical influences. A 2.5m-tall glass sculpture at the entrance greets guests, and takes inspiration from musical notes; it lights up beautifully in eye-catching hues that also symbolises the property’s dynamic branding. This entryway leads to the lively hotel lobby which features an 85” inch video wall that displays electronic art from artists including Refik Anadol and Jonathan Monaghan, and is basked in ambience light from the illuminated ceiling panels above.

The two-tower property comprises a total of 781 rooms and four suites that range from 193 sq ft to 495 sq ft, with room designs featuring elements drawn from lively shophouses in the Balestier neighbourhood. Guests can choose from an array of dining options at the hotel that include Yuè,a modern Chinese restaurant, and 21 on Rajah, a halal-certified buffet restaurant that serves dishes inspire by Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. The hotel group’s signature W XYZ lobby bar also serves refreshing cocktails and light bites. 

A hotel of its own league, the Edition is a renowned boutique concept for luxury stays that is the brainchild of American hotelier Ian Schrager in partnership with hospitality giant, Marriott International. Coming to Singapore this October, this will be the first hotel of its kind on our island and in Southeast Asia, following a delayed opening due to the pandemic.

Spearheading the design of the new hotel is the internationally acclaimed Safdie Architects, which has an award-winning portfolio of Singapore projects that includes the likes of Marina Bay Sands and Jewel Changi Airport. Taking the urban context of Singapore into consideration, the 204-room hotel property is joined with the Boulevard 88, a pair of private residential towers that make up the skyscraper. It is also said to be located at the bottom-half of the skyscraper and is built in a ‘U-shaped’ plan surrounded by landscaped terraces and a verdant sunken garden. 

Much like the other cosmopolitan locales part of the Edition brand, The Singapore Edition features an overall design that is unique to the city and counts several attractions that include five restaurant and bar establishments, a rooftop pool, spa, fitness center and 6,458 sq ft of indoor and outdoor event spaces.

Taking the Como Group to the next level, the first-of-its-kind hotel in Singapore aims to be a luxurious retreat that bridges hospitality, fashion, dining, and wellness. Brought together by the local entrepreneur-hotelier, Christina Ong, the 19-floor hotel showcases some of the Como Group’s lifestyle brands that include two levels of Club 21 retail space featuring the latest designer labels, a Como Shambhala flagship outlet for health and wellness enthusiasts, and a new Como Cuisine restaurant. In addition to this, Como Metropolitan Singapore is also inviting the famed French patisserie Cédric Grolet and Cote Korean Steakhouse, the Michelin-starred restaurant in New York and Miami, to make their debut in Asia.

Beyond creating an immersive experience for its guests, the Como Metropolitan Singapore is a design lover’s dream. The hotel features the creative DNA and works of award-winning talents like Italian architect Paola Navone from Otto Studio, Japanese interior design-consultant Koichiro Ikebuchi of Atelier Ikebuchi, Norwegian digital artist Thomas Hilland, and Modellus Novus, the New York City-based architecture firm behind Cote Korean Steakhouse and Cote Miami. 

Opening in successive phases starting in September, the soft debut of Como Metropolitan Singapore will be set to welcome guests with its 156 rooms.

Opening this October, Accor’s Pullman Singapore Hill Street is nearly ready to welcome travelers to their latest hotel in Singapore’s core downtown district. Designed by the award-winning design practice from Singapore, DP Architects, the hotel boasts opulent and stylish interiors and 350 guest rooms that reference the Art Nouveau style—the latter is designed across the building in a U-shaped formation and enjoys picturesque views of our local surroundings, be it Fort Canning Park or Marina Bay.

Besides the prime location, the hotel itself boasts charming facilities such as a 24-hour power fitness gym, a swimming pool with cabanas, and three restaurants. Guests can look forward to indulging in New York-style fare at Madison’s, the Mexican-inspired rooftop pool bar El Chido, and Mogā, a Japanese izakaya.

Capturing the essence of local nostalgia, Mercure introduces its third hotel in Singapore. An ode to the Art-Deco style hardware stores and industrial workshops seen in Tyrwhitt back in the ‘50s, the 270-key hotel is housed in a restored colonial building with traditional shop-houses, specialty coffee shops, boutique cafés, and urban artworks at its doorstep. Unlike the yesteryear facade, interiors are modern and furnished with heritage-inspired details that celebrate the neighbourhood’s history; black and white images in the lobby to artisanal metal grills and patterned tiles seen inside the restaurant, Applause. 

Guests looking to book at the Mercure Singapore Tyrwhitt can also look forward to options such as the Classic, Twin, Double, and Family rooms fully equipped with Smart TVs, desks, and high-speed Wi-Fi. For those who want more space, there are Balcony-style rooms that include an outdoor veranda and the Mercure Privilege Rooms that feature floor-to-ceiling windows, a private terrace, and a converted loft space with two double beds. The hotel also offers a cozy cafe on its premises, Tyrwhitt Little Café (TLC), and is close to Bendemeer MRT station, minutes away by foot.

Inspired by fashion and the shopping paradise nature of the locale, the Pullman enters Singapore with its first hotel along the buzzy street of Orchard. Set to turn heads, the 326-room luxury hotel has a consistent bold modern style and visually arresting details throughout the facade and interiors that are the brainchild of the award-winning global hospitality design and branding group EDG Design. There are also three dining experiences for visitors to indulge in—this includes the Eden Restaurant, which is housed in a botanical-inspired glasshouse and serves up Asian fare; the Atelier Lounge for a stylish spot for sartorialists to enjoy a more relaxed dining session; and the P.S.O. Beach Club, for those looking for a poolside escape in the city.

The Mondrian Singapore sets to bring a new charm to the Duxton Hill neighbourhood and the traditional and vibrant Chinatown shophouses with its star-studded debut. Brought to us by the hospitality group Ennismore, the design of this property takes inspiration from the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian, who is lauded for his minimalist take on Cubism. Live indulgently and be entertained at this boutique hotel destination that features 302 shophouse suites and guestrooms designed by Studio Carter, a cinematic rooftop pool, and an eclectic selection of restaurants and bars.

Making a debut in Singapore in mid-2023, the Hong Kong-based Artyzen Hospitality is launching its first hotel in Singapore at a unique heritage site, no less—the former property was once a tropical-garden mansion of philanthropist Tan Tock Seng's grandson. Now positioned as a relaxing destination dedicated to discerning millennial and gen Z travellers, Artyzen Singapore takes a fresh interpretation of our culture, colours, and flavours.

Designed in partnership with Ong & Ong Architects and Nic Graham & Associates, the lush property is given new life as an award-winning 142-room contemporary hotel with modern-style suites and guestrooms with lofty interiors. Guests looking to visit or stay can also look forward to Quenino by Victor Liong (a cafe with a homegrown mix of flavours and cuisines), a roof garden that features a 25-m cantilevered infinity pool and a workout and wellness floor with amenities like a fitness centre, yoga studio, and spa treatment rooms.

Set to launch in the second quarter of 2023, Pan Pacific Hotels Group introduces its newest luxury destination hotel in the heart of Orchard’s buzzy shopping and dining landscape.

Designed by Woha Architects, the Pan Pacific Orchard will redefine the cityscape of central Singapore with its sustainable architecture of four natural vertical terraces—Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud—brimming with more than 78,577 sq ft of foliage that covers more than 200 per cent of the hotel’s land area. Guests and visitors can look forward to the 347-room establishment’s attractive features like the outdoor pool and pool bar on the fifth floor, ten private beach club lofts, the plush Pacific Club Lounge and a pillarless ballroom on the 18th floor that can fit a capacity of 420 seats.

Opening its second hotel in Singapore in late 2023, the Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa will feature a collection of 61 luxurious villas, each with its own swimming pool. Borrowing influences from Singapore’s culture, the new property designed by New York and Toronto-based practice, Yabu Pushelberg, spans a whopping area of over 1,076,391 sq ft and will feature contemporary-style accommodation types ranging from the one-bedroom villa (measuring 2,799 sq ft) to an expansive four-bedroom villa (measuring 4,844 sq ft).

In addition to this, the new resort will also include the Writers’ Bar (a tea salon and cocktail lounge), a classic food and dining establishment that references the original architecture of Raffles Hotel Singapore.

Making its grand debut in the third quarter of 2023, The Standard is unveiling its Singapore chapter with the debut of its latest destination hotel in Southeast Asia.

In a prime hotspot on Orange Grove road and a stone’s throw from Orchard Road, the 143-room boutique hotel sees its design by Chief Design Officer for Standard International, Verena Haller, alongside Singapore-based collaborators Ministry of Design, that created the interiors and DP Architects that focused on the building’s architecture and landscaping for the project. The first-of-its-kind property in Singapore will also offer luxurious amenities to both guests and visitors alike—this includes the Signature restaurant and nightlife vibrancy, and arts and cultural programming along with an infinity pool and a pool bar set within a lush botanical courtyard.
